Reports To: Project Manager, with day to day technical direction from the Deputy Project Manager / Technical Lead and Senior SMEs

Role Overview
The Technical Tester will perform hands on execution of approved cybersecurity testing procedures under the direction of the Technical Lead and Senior Cybersecurity Subject Matter Experts.
This role will conduct vulnerability scanning, configuration validation, control testing, controlled adversary simulation activities, log analysis, remediation verification, and technical evidence collection. The Technical Tester will be responsible for ensuring that testing activities and evidence are complete, accurate, reproducible, and suitable for audit or compliance review.
Key Responsibilities
• Execute approved testing procedures precisely as written and document any deviation, interruption, or anomaly.
• Perform vulnerability scanning, configuration reviews, control validation, and cloud security assessments.
• Execute controlled adversary simulation steps, privilege escalation testing, and access control validation.
• Capture and preserve technical evidence with synchronized timestamps suitable for audit review.
• Assemble testing workpapers and complete evidence packages for quality assurance review.
• Perform remediation verification testing and document results against the original finding.
• Analyze logs and monitoring activity to support testing and detection validation.
• Immediately escalate anomalous or unexpected system behavior in accordance with established stop work procedures.
Required Technical Skills
• Hands on experience performing vulnerability scanning, control validation, log analysis, configuration reviews, and cloud security assessments.
• Experience executing controlled adversary simulations, privilege escalation testing, access control validation, and monitoring effectiveness reviews.
• Proficiency with tools such as Nessus, OpenVAS, Burp Suite, BloodHound, Kali Linux, Wazuh, Elastic Stack, Wireshark, and Nmap.
• Familiarity with Microsoft security technologies including Active Directory, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Entra ID, and Microsoft Sentinel.
• Scripting proficiency in PowerShell, Python, or Bash sufficient to automate repeatable testing steps and evidence collection.
• Ability to collect and preserve technical evidence suitable for audit review.
• Experience performing endpoint, server, database, and network device assessments.
• Knowledge of vulnerability scoring, risk prioritization, and remediation verification.
• Ability to create detailed testing workpapers and technical evidence packages.
• Working understanding of NIST CSF and state cybersecurity technical requirements, including Rule 60GG-2, F.A.C.
Minimum Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience conducting technical security assessments, vulnerability testing, or cybersecurity operations.
• Demonstrated experience producing technical documentation suitable for audit or compliance review.
• Experience working to written procedures under supervision in production environments.
• Must reside in the state of Florida.
