Job description

Erwin Electric is an established electrical company, with an excellent reputation in the electrical contracting community since 1997. We are a W/MBE and DBE-certified electrical contracting corporation experienced in commercial, industrial, residential, and government work. We are currently seeking a Senior Estimator to join our team.
Work Location: This is a remote position. Candidates located in the Tampa area must be open to occasional onsite work with local clients.
Overview:
The Senior Estimator is responsible for all aspects of cost estimating for projects ranging from $100K to $10M across industries including healthcare, education, government, multifamily, hospitality, retail, restaurants and more. Our estimators must be capable of both bidding and winning the job which often requires salesmanship and negotiation skills as well as the ability to build long-term customer relationships.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Review specifications and drawings to determine the scope of work and contents of the estimate.
  • Prepare estimates using Trimble Accubid Anywhere and analyze the results for accuracy and complete content.
  • Request quotes for materials, subcontractors, and buyout packages.
  • Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors. Review quotes for completeness with plans and specifications.
  • Itemize and quantify all incidentals necessary in preparing the bid packages including rental, tools, and supplies.
  • Prior to issuing the formal bid package, provide the Chief Estimator with a detailed review of scope, technical requirements, and pricing.
  • After the successful bid at project turnover, meet with Project Management and Lead to fully explain the estimate, scope of work, quotes, and support a successful transition of the project.
  • Responsible for the timely completion of all client-required documents.
  • Draft scope letter inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications.
  • Provide cost-saving options and value engineering ideas to help the customer and company maintain a competitive edge.

If located in the Tampa area:
  • Attend or request pre-bid walk-throughs.
  • Meet with general contractors to identify project needs.
  • Occasionally, hand-deliver bids to general contractors.
  • Attend tabletop events with general contractors.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical training preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of electrical estimating experience
  • Experience with Accubid or similar estimating software required
  • Experience with Accubid LiveCount preferred
  • Experience with Bluebeam Revu preferred
  • Prior electrical field experience strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of electrical construction across various project types
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)

Compensation: $100,000 - $130,000 base salary, plus bonus opportunities based on project profitability
