Freelance 3D Modeler / Illustrator Location: Remote Type: Contract / Freelance Duration: Initial 1-month engagement with potential to extend/ramp up Hours: Approximately 0–10 hours/week to start; flexible schedule/off-hours available Pay Rate: $40/hr - $44/hr W2 Start Date: ASAP / As early as next week Benefits: Eligible for Health, Dental, Vision, 401K Must be authorized to work in the U.S. This position is not eligible for sponsorship .

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Freelance 3D Modeler / Illustrator to create polished, brand-aligned 3D visuals and conceptual graphics for digital and web experiences. This person will translate complex products, systems, and abstract concepts into compelling visuals that are easy for customers to understand.

The ideal candidate combines strong 3D modeling and rendering expertise with excellent visual storytelling skills. This person should be comfortable taking a concept from initial brief through modeling, rendering, stakeholder feedback, and final delivery of optimized flat digital assets for web.

This is a highly flexible freelance opportunity beginning at approximately 0–10 hours per week, with the potential for hours to increase based on project needs.

Job Summary:

  • Create and render high-quality 3D product visuals, technical illustrations, and conceptual graphics
  • Translate complex or abstract products, systems, and ideas into visuals that are engaging and easy to understand
  • Develop creative including product visualizations, isometric graphics, explainer imagery, technical/device renderings, and transparent or cutaway-style visuals
  • Take projects from initial concept and 3D modeling through rendering and final production
  • Convert 3D models and renders into polished flat digital assets optimized for web
  • Work within established brand guidelines and creative direction while contributing ideas for how concepts can best be represented visually
  • Collaborate asynchronously with creative and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Incorporate feedback from multiple stakeholders while maintaining visual consistency and quality
  • Potentially develop 3D animation or motion assets depending on project requirements and experience

Required Qualifications

  • Professional experience with 3D modeling, rendering, and visualization
  • Strong hands-on experience with Maya, Cinema The Client, or comparable professional 3D software
  • Portfolio demonstrating relevant 3D work such as Product visualization and product rendering:
    • Isometric graphics
    • Technical or device visualization
    • Explainer/conceptual imagery
    • Complex product, environment, or system visualization
  • Strong visual storytelling skills with the ability to make complex or abstract concepts visually understandable
  • Experience taking 3D work through final rendering and exporting finished flat digital assets for web
  • Experience creating within established brand guidelines and creative direction
  • Ability to work independently in a flexible freelance environment
  • Comfortable receiving asynchronous feedback and collaborating with multiple stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3D animation and/or motion design experience
  • Experience creating visuals for technology, SaaS, digital products, or complex technical concepts
  • Experience creating transparent, exploded, cutaway, architectural, or isometric visualizations
  • Experience with additional rendering, compositing, or motion tools
  • Ability to help conceptualize how a complex product or system should be represented visually, rather than solely executing predetermined designs

Portfolio Requirement

A portfolio is required for consideration. Candidates should include examples demonstrating the ability to transform complex concepts into visually compelling and understandable 3D graphics. Relevant examples may include product renderings, technical illustrations, devices, isometric environments, system visualizations, exploded/cutaway imagery, or similar commercial 3D work.
