Lead Carpenter/Supervisor

Bathroom and Kitchen Remodels

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Lead Carpenter/Supervisor (Bathroom and Kitchen Remodels) to oversee residential bathroom and kitchen remodeling projects, typically shower/bath demos and installations. This position requires hands-on leadership, with responsibility for supervising one apprentice or Project Assistant, managing demolition, and performing high-quality installations from start to finish. The ideal candidate will have an experienced background and strong work ethic, teamwork ability, attention to detail, and a passion for quality craftsmanship. Experience with all aspects of remodeling is required with priority given to those with bathroom and kitchen remodel experience. This position also requires a flexible individual who is able to work late at times to ensure the job is completed to expectations.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with remodeling experience who is ready on Day One to take the lead on projects, demonstrate leadership, and contribute to high-quality work in a growing, team-oriented business.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead bathroom remodeling projects from demolition and adjusting plumbing, through final installation of shower walls, trim kits, etc. High attention to detail and ability to problem-solve is required to be successful.

- Supervise a Project Assistant and mentor one apprentice, providing guidance and training as needed.

- Perform carpentry tasks such as framing, plumbing fixture installation, tiling, and finish work.

- Ensure all work is completed to company and contractor standards and meets client expectations.

- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site.

- Communicate with clients professionally and address any on-site concerns.

- Represent JM Remodeling effectively, including the possibility of handling sales conversations..

- Coordinate materials, tools, and resources to keep projects on schedule.

- Adhere to all safety protocols and building codes.

- Manage administrative details, such as paperwork, scheduling, and submission of financial paperwork on-time. JM Remodeling utilizes specific contractual paperwork so a high attention to detail is required; ability to utilize technology also required.

Required Skills and Qualifications

- Minimum 8-10 years of full-time experience in remodeling, carpentry, or related fields (bathroom remodeling experience required).

- Proficient in using hand and power tools safely and effectively.

- Strong understanding of bathroom construction, including plumbing and tiling.

- Ability to read and interpret project plans and specifications.

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.

- Problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to challenges on-site.

- Must be physically capable of performing labor-intensive tasks, including lifting 50-100 lbs.

- Flexibility around scheduling; at times, the staff member will be required to work late in order to complete a project on time and also ensuring quality.

- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites in the Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, and surrounding areas. Overnight accommodations may be provided if job is more than an hour from your home. Mileage is reimbursed after the first 40 miles from your home.

Work Expectations

- This position requires travel to various job sites across the Syracuse, Rochester, and surrounding areas. Opportunities for company vehicles are possible.

- Occasional overnight stays may be required for projects more than an hour from your home location. Paid hotel accommodations and travel time will be provided. Mileage, tolls, and per diems are available.

- Personal set of basic hand tools required; specialized tools will be provided.

- Typical work week is Monday through Friday, with 30-45 hours anticipated.

- Typical hours are 7:30am to 6:00pm with earlier starts or later end times required to ensure timely completion of projects, to remain on schedule, and ensure meeting quality expectations.

- Hourly wage: $35-$45, based on experience and demonstrated skills.
