Job description

Residential Remodeler

R.R. Isler Construction | Columbus, Ohio

R.R. Isler Construction is looking for an experienced Residential Remodeler to join our growing team.

We specialize in high-quality residential remodeling and custom construction throughout the Columbus area. Our team takes pride not only in the finished product, but in the experience we provide our clients, trade partners, and one another throughout the process.

We are looking for someone who is skilled with their hands, takes ownership of their work, communicates well, and enjoys solving the challenges that come with residential remodeling.

What You'll Do

As a Remodeler at R.R. Isler Construction, you will work alongside our Project Managers, Lead Remodelers, and field team to execute a wide variety of residential remodeling work.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform residential remodeling work including jobsite protection, selective demolition, framing, drywall, trim carpentry, cabinetry installation, finish hardware, accessories, and punch-list work.
  • Complete miscellaneous handyman and repair tasks associated with residential remodeling projects.
  • Support project punch-out, warranty, and service work for current and past clients.
  • Read and work from construction drawings, specifications, and project information.
  • Coordinate daily work with the Project Manager, Lead Remodeler, subcontractors, and other RRI team members.
  • Identify field conditions, conflicts, or concerns early and communicate them to the project team.
  • Protect occupied homes and maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite.
  • Safely and efficiently operate hand and power tools.
  • Follow applicable building codes, manufacturer requirements, and company safety standards.
  • Help prepare jobsites for subcontractors and upcoming phases of work.
  • Take responsibility for the quality and completeness of assigned work.
  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with clients, subcontractors, vendors, neighbors, and teammates.
  • Contribute wherever needed to keep projects moving forward.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate has hands-on residential remodeling experience and is comfortable working across multiple phases of construction.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous experience in residential remodeling, carpentry, handyman work, or a related construction field.
  • Strong carpentry skills, including framing and finish carpentry.
  • Experience with cabinetry, trim, doors, hardware, drywall repairs, and similar finish work.
  • Working knowledge of common residential trades including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, flooring, painting, and drywall.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and details.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
  • Ability to troubleshoot field conditions and develop practical solutions.
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning well as part of a team.
  • Professional communication skills and comfort working in clients' homes.
  • Strong organizational habits and commitment to jobsite cleanliness.
  • Ability to safely lift and move construction materials and perform physically demanding work.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Several years of residential remodeling or custom-home construction experience.
  • Experience working for a remodeling contractor, general contractor, or as a self-employed tradesperson.
  • Broad knowledge of residential construction methods and sequencing.
  • OSHA certification or other relevant safety training.
  • Experience performing warranty, service, and punch-list work.

How We Work

At R.R. Isler Construction, our goal is to Promote Confidence through disciplined communication, proactive transparency, quality craftsmanship, and consistent follow-through.

We expect every member of our team to:

  • Take pride in their work.
  • Surface problems early rather than allowing surprises.
  • Maintain safe, clean, and organized jobsites.
  • Respect our clients' homes and property.
  • Communicate clearly with teammates and trade partners.
  • Take accountability for mistakes and help solve problems.
  • Be adaptable and willing to learn.
  • Lead by example, not by title.

We want our team members, clients, and trade partners to feel seen, heard, and comfortable working with R.R. Isler Construction.

Why R.R. Isler Construction?

We want RRI to be a place where talented construction professionals can build a long-term career.

We offer:

  • Competitive compensation tailored to experience and skill level.
  • A strong benefits package.
  • Opportunities for continued professional growth and increased responsibility.
  • A collaborative team environment.
  • Consistent exposure to challenging, custom residential remodeling projects.
  • The opportunity to develop a broad residential construction skill set.
  • A company that values craftsmanship, communication, accountability, and the people doing the work.

For the right candidate, the Remodeler position can provide a path toward increased field leadership and advancement within R.R. Isler Construction.

Apply

If you are an experienced carpenter, remodeler, or skilled residential construction professional looking for an opportunity to grow with a quality-focused company, we'd like to hear from you.

Please submit:
