Job description

We are looking for a capable and skilled carpenter to join our team. You’ll take direction from the project manager to help construct and maintain strong and long-lasting buildings and products. You are great at reading blueprints and have excellent hand dexterity, with a can-do attitude. Responsibilities:
  • Confirm flooring, roofing, and drywall are level and compatible
  • Chisel and assemble kitchen cabinets, drywall, siding, and furniture
  • Build door and window frames, stairways, rafters, and partitions
  • Examine and repair structures
  • Calculate, shape, cut, and smooth materials
  • Replace existing siding, windows, and doors on homes throughout North Alabama
  • Install James Hardie fiber cement siding according to Hardie's best practices and guidelines
  • Install replacement windows and doors according to manufacturer guidelines
  • Build and replace decking systems using composite decking products to meet manufacturer and code requirements
  • Ensure proper weather barrier, flashing, and moisture management details on every project
  • Maintain Freedom Exteriors' quality standards on every task, including flashing, trim, fastening patterns, and finished appearance
  • Set the daily production pace for the crew and sequence work to maximize efficiency
  • Resolve routine installation challenges independently without requiring constant direction

Qualifications:
  • Completed carpentry apprenticeship required
  • Strong physical condition and excellent hand dexterity
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • We prefer if you have a high school diploma or GED
  • Deep knowledge of carpentry materials, tools, and techniques
  • 5+ years of hands-on carpentry experience in exterior remodeling or residential construction
  • Demonstrated experience installing fiber cement siding products — James Hardie experience strongly preferred
  • Deck construction and composite decking experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of weather barrier, flashing, and moisture management best practices
  • Comfortable working at heights on ladders and scaffolding safely and confidently
  • Reliable, self-directed, and able to maintain production pace without constant supervision
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship on every project
