Job description

Job Description:
This is an excellent opportunity for a Sr. Tax Accountant to bring valuable experience in State and Local Tax related matters, including preparing and filing Business Personal Property Tax Returns using PTMS, as well as utilizing Vertex for sales and use tax compliance, reconciliation, reporting, and tax payments. This role exercises independent judgment, drives process improvements, serves as a primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, and supports audits and tax planning initiatives. The position plays a critical role in ensuring compliance, managing risk, and enhancing operational efficiency across the tax function.
PROPERTY TAX
  • Lead the preparation, review, and filing of Business Personal Property Tax returns using PTMS software, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
  • Oversee data integrity by identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving data import and system-of-record issues
  • Review and reconcile Notices of Value, determine appeal strategies, and prepare and file informal and formal appeals when warranted
  • Direct the processing and remittance of property tax payments and ensure compliance with jurisdictional requirements
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on property tax matters, providing guidance to internal teams and responding to complex technical questions
  • Act as a primary liaison with taxing authorities, auditors, and external service providers
  • Lead property tax audit support efforts, including documentation review, issue resolution, and audit response strategy

SALES TAX
  • Provide tax audit support upon request
  • Provide advanced technical support to internal stakeholders on sales tax matters
  • Research and interpret sales tax law changes using RIA Checkpoint / Thomson Reuters, translating findings into practical business guidance
  • Assess the impact of tax law changes and communicate risks, opportunities, and recommendations to management
  • Contribute to and lead special projects, including process enhancements and system improvements
  • Special projects as requested

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with 6-8 years of relevant work experience OR Associate's degree in Accounting with 7-9 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with PTMS software is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
  • Business License experience required
  • Experience with Vertex is a plus
  • Proficiency with 10-key required
  • Leasing Industry experience a plus
  • Prior Public Accounting experience and/or Large Corporation experience (revenue over $1B) desired
  • Intermediate Excel skills including Pivot Tables, Lookups, and Formulas
  • Experience using Access is a plus
  • Experience with on-line tax and accounting research tools, such as Thompson Reuter's products (Checkpoint, RIA etc.)

  • Positions Type/Standard Schedule: This is a full-time, Monday and Friday 8a-5p position; hybrid (3 days in office - Tue-Thurs),

Pay Range:
$79,100-$110,800
The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is eligible to participate in the annual incentive plan which is based on company performance and individual performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience, education, certifications, skill level and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed here.
