Discovery Senior Living is hiring a Project Manager to join our Construction and Development team.
Relocation assistance available for the right candidate.
The Project manager manages and coordinates large and/or complex construction projects through all phases of design, permitting, and construction. Operates with significant independence and minimal supervision as the Owner's Project Representative. Must work cooperatively with Community Executive Directors and Maintenance Directors. In addition, works with contracted architectural and engineering consultants (Architects, Designers) and other departments such as telecommunications, operations, and finance. Travel throughout the State of Florida as well as other parts of the country will be required.
Responsibilities:
The Project Manager is responsible for assisting the Director of Renovations and the President of Design and Construction in managing the day to activities of the general contractor, architects, engineers, consultants, and vendors in activities that consist of:
  • Order and Track deliverables of Owner Supplied Vendors
  • Create, input and track budgets
  • Perform Construction Site Visits.
  • Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget by monitoring all project schedules and budgets
  • Manage Renovations on Existing Properties
  • Manage changes to the project scope, schedule and cost using appropriate tracking and verification processes
  • Perform Project Punchlist and track completion
  • Project coordination and controls using web based project management system to review RFIs, submittals, pay applications,
  • Coordinate contractor activities and direct as necessary
  • Lead the quality assurance and standards
  • Provide weekly reports, project schedules and testing reports
  • Review and Critique Commercial Building Plans
  • Performs other related duties/projects as requested

Qualifications:
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction, Architecture, or related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the direct management of large, complex commercial construction projects with responsibility for permitting/approvals, budget control, estimating, design and construction coordination, and project scheduling.
  • Experience as an Owner's Rep is required.
  • Experience with ground up new construction is preferred.
  • Prior use of online construction project management software is preferred. The ability to use Microsoft Office and Project is a must.
  • The candidate must have a thorough knowledge of construction practices, procedures, design, and materials; be able to plan ahead to prevent problems, direct and coordinate professional construction management work, negotiate vendor contracts, coordinate several diverse projects simultaneously, and problem solving skills to resolve issues.
  • Candidate must have the ability to read, interpret, and understand all design discipline plans.
  • Must be able to travel up to 50%.
