Overview

A leading women's and children's healthcare program in Savannah is seeking an experienced Mother Baby Nurse Manager to oversee postpartum and mother-baby operations within a high-performing women's services department.

This leadership role is responsible for daily operational oversight, staffing coordination, patient care quality, team leadership, and clinical performance management across a Mother Baby/Postpartum unit serving a diverse maternal-newborn patient population.

The ideal candidate has strong postpartum or mother-baby leadership experience, understands women's services operations, and can effectively lead a tenured nursing team while supporting patient satisfaction, staff engagement, and clinical excellence initiatives.

Unit & Department Overview
  • 22-bed Mother Baby/Postpartum unit
  • Average daily census: approximately 15 patients
  • Approximately 29.5 FTEs
  • Reports directly to Director of Women's Services
  • Direct oversight of:
    • Registered Nurses
    • CNAs
    • Unit Secretaries
  • High-acuity regional women's and children's referral environment
  • Established and experienced nursing team
Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations, staffing coordination, and patient care delivery within the Mother Baby/Postpartum unit
  • Lead nursing staff through mentoring, coaching, performance management, and operational support
  • Collaborate with women's services leadership, physicians, lactation support, neonatal teams, and interdisciplinary departments
  • Support patient safety, quality improvement, and patient satisfaction initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with evidence-based postpartum and maternal-newborn nursing practices
  • Assist with policy development, workflow optimization, staffing productivity, and operational planning
  • Support employee engagement, retention, onboarding, and staff development initiatives
  • Maintain effective communication and collaboration across women's services operations
QualificationsRequired
  • Active RN license or compact multistate RN license
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 3 years of recent women's services RN experience in acute care
  • Minimum 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience
  • Strong Mother Baby/Postpartum clinical background
  • BLS and ACLS certification
Preferred
  • Master's degree
  • Previous Mother Baby or Postpartum management experience
  • Experience leading established or tenured nursing teams
  • NRP certification
