Electrical Studies Engineer - Renewable Studies
Mid-Level
About the Position
As a mid-level Electrical Studies Engineer in the Renewables studies group, you will be responsible for performing electrical power system modeling and analysis primarily for renewable facilities that encompass solar, wind, battery storage generation projects and substation design projects.
Salary Range: $100,000 - $135,000 / year
The salary range above is based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market.
This opportunity is available to both local / in-office (Lakewood, CO) and full-time remote candidates.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Creates and develops quality studies and reports including but not limited to short circuit, reactive power/load flow, arc flash, dynamic, transient, harmonic (pre & post), interconnection compliance, ampacity, grounding, as well as other related studies and calculations
  • Assists with Client contacts and communication pertaining to specific assignments and
    meetings. Maintain strong and responsive Company-Client relationships
  • Maintains a strong understanding and applications of applicable Codes and Standards
  • Maintains high ethical and professional standards
  • Attends conferences, training workshops, seminars, regular undergraduate, and
    graduate classes as appropriate for advancement and as required to maintain quality of
    work.
  • Attend safety training and follow safety rules and guidelines
  • May occasionally assist with performing equipment, control system, communications,
    troubleshooting, and relay field testing and start-up and commissioning services
  • Other job-related responsibilities as assigned
  • Secondary responsibilities may include checking and/or performing detailed design of all
    aspects of electrical power systems to include one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams,
    control and relaying schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, conduit, and cable
    sizing/routing, grounding design, writing of equipment specifications, project and
    construction cost estimates, and project scheduling
Must Have
  • Education: Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution, electric power option preferred
  • Experience: 1 - 4 years of relevant engineering or field experience
  • Licensure: FE, PE is a plus, but not required
  • Proficiency in power system modeling software such as:
    • Steady State Software Required: PowerFactory or ETAP.
      • Nice to Have: Easypower, SKM Power Tools, Aspen or Windmil
    • System Protection & Arc Flash Software Required: ETAP or Easy Power.
      • Nice to have: CAPE, Aspen, or SKM Power Tools
    • Interconnection & Dynamic Modeling: PSSe or PSLF
    • Transient Studies software: PSCAD
  • Nice to have, not required:
    • Grounding software: CDEGS or WinIGS
    • Cable Ampacity software: Cymcap
  • Possesses effective written and oral communications skills
  • Good interpersonal and people skills
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
