Position Summary

The Senior Director of Individual Giving is a strategic and results-driven leader responsible for building, scaling, and optimizing Comic Relief US’s individual philanthropy program. This role oversees all aspects of individual giving, including digital fundraising, monthly/recurring giving, leadership-level donors, and major gifts.

Reporting to the Chief Strategy and Impact Officer, the Senior Director will lead a high-performing team to grow revenue, deepen donor engagement, and expand the organization’s base of individual supporters. This role requires a balance of strategic vision, data-driven decision-making, and hands-on leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive individual giving strategy to significantly increase revenue across all channels.

  • Set and achieve ambitious annual fundraising goals aligned with organizational priorities.

  • Partner with executive leadership to integrate individual giving into broader development and marketing strategies.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of three (Director, Manager, Associate), fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and growth.

  • Oversee individual fundraising strategy, collaborate with marketing and creative teams to produce compelling donor journeys and campaigns.

  • Support key donor programs including monthly giving and Producer’s Circle ($1,000 and above)

  • Design and implement a major gifts strategy, including portfolio development and stewardship plans.

  • Personally manage a portfolio of high-capacity donors and prospects.

  • Partner with senior leadership and board members to cultivate and solicit major gifts.

  • Ensure a best-in-class donor experience across all touchpoints.

  • Develop meaningful stewardship strategies to deepen engagement and increase retention.

  • Leverage storytelling and impact reporting to connect donors to mission outcomes.

  • Use data and analytics to inform strategy, measure performance, and optimize campaigns.

  • Oversee donor segmentation, pipeline management, and reporting.

  • Ensure effective use of CRM systems and fundraising tools.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in fundraising, with a strong focus on individual giving.

  • Proven track record of managing and growing multi-channel individual giving programs.

  • Demonstrated success in cultivating and closing major gifts.

  • Strong leadership and team management experience.

  • Data-driven mindset with experience using analytics to inform decision-making.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Passion for the mission of Comic Relief US.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in nonprofit, media, entertainment, or cause marketing environments.

  • Familiarity with celebrity-driven or large-scale campaign fundraising.

  • Experience working with CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce) and digital fundraising tools.

PAY TRANSPARENCY

Comic Relief offers competitive compensation. The salary range for this role is anticipated to be $160,000 - 190,000. The actual salary is dependent upon many factors, including but not limited to: abilities, skills, work experience, knowledge, business needs, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified.
