Wayne Automatic Fire Sprinklers is looking for experienced Fire Sprinkler Fitters in our Deerfield, FL, branch to work in and surrounding areas. The Commercial/Fire Sprinkler Fitter at Wayne Automatic Fire Sprinklers, Inc. lays out, assembles, and installs pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for fire sprinkler systems in commercial and multi-family settings. This role involves performing all types of sprinkler work on-site, with the goal that all work is to be completed in a timely, accurate, and safe manner, and in compliance with relevant codes and WAFS standards. The fitter works directly under the guidance of the commercial fire sprinkler foreman.
Position Responsibilites:
  • Follow procedures for the installation of fire sprinkler systems, working to complete projects on schedule, within budget, and to required standards.
  • Apply knowledge of system operation for the layout, assembly, and installation of pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. This includes applying knowledge of fire sprinkler system operations and interpreting blueprints and installation instructions.
  • Assist in the completion of commercial work orders, which may include fitting overhead pipe, carrying materials, ladders, and other items (up to 50 lbs.), including up and down stairs.
  • Perform maintenance and replacement work on system components, such as valves, gauges, flow switches, tamper switches, etc.
  • Proactively notify the foreman of any issues, concerns, or changes on the job site.
  • Comply with all work and safety rules and proper safety protocols on the job site.
  • Loads the trucks with all necessary materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Responsible for the care, maintenance, and safekeeping of assigned tools and equipment.
  • Wear a clean company uniform at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the commercial foreman or superintendent/manager.

What are the Qualifications for this position?
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a fire sprinkler fitter or in a related role.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience in installing fire sprinkler systems, reading blueprints, and conducting system testing.
  • Preferred but not required; completion (participation in?) of Wayne Academy Apprenticeship Program, ABC Apprenticeship Program, NICET certification, OSHA 30hour course, lift certification.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Travel within the local community is required with reliable transportation.
  • Must possess the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to wear required protective equipment and adhere to safety guidelines on job sites.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test, background check, and 10-year employment verification is required.
