FIRE SPRINKLER INSPECTOR โ€“ FIRE ALARM DIVISION

As a Fire Sprinkler Inspector at Total Fire Protection, you will be responsible for inspecting, testing, and maintaining fire sprinkler systems to ensure they are in compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and safety standards. The primary goal of the inspector is to identify any issues or malfunctions that could compromise the effectiveness of the fire sprinkler system, and to recommend or perform corrective actions as necessary. This role is essential in safeguarding lives and property by ensuring that fire sprinkler systems are functioning optimally.


Responsibilities:


  1. Fire Sprinkler System Inspection:
    • Conduct thorough inspections of fire sprinkler systems in various facilities, including commercial buildings, residential complexes, warehouses, and industrial sites.
    • Inspect all components of the fire sprinkler system, including pipes, fittings, sprinkler heads, control valves, and alarms, to check for proper functioning and condition.
  2. Testing and Maintenance:
    • Perform routine testing and maintenance on fire sprinkler systems to ensure they are operating as intended.
    • Conduct flow tests, valve tests, alarm tests, and other functional tests to verify system performance.
    • Clean and flush sprinkler heads and pipes to remove any debris or blockages that could impede water flow.
  3. Code Compliance:
    • Familiarize oneself with local, state, and national fire codes and regulations related to fire sprinkler systems.
    • Ensure that all inspections and maintenance activities adhere to the prescribed codes and standards.
  4. Report Generation:
    • Prepare detailed inspection reports for each site visit, documenting the condition of the fire sprinkler system, any deficiencies found, and recommended corrective actions.

  6. Client Communication:
    • Interact with property owners, facility managers, and other stakeholders to explain inspection findings, recommend maintenance or repairs, and answer any questions related to the fire sprinkler system.
  7. Stay Updated:
    • Stay informed about advancements in fire sprinkler technology, new regulations, and best practices related to fire safety.
    • Participate in training programs and workshops to maintain and enhance knowledge and skills.

Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
  • Certification in fire sprinkler inspection, such as from the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET), is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience in fire sprinkler system inspection, fire safety, or a related field is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of fire sprinkler system components, operation, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of local and national fire codes and regulations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify potential issues.
  • Good communication skills to interact with clients and team members effectively.
  • Physical ability to climb ladders, access confined spaces, and lift equipment if required.
