Job description

A fire sprinkler service technician apprentice will work under an experienced service technician to service customers by installing, inspecting, and servicing fire sprinkler systems, backflows, fire pumps, and associated equipment.

Fire Sprinkler Service Technician Apprentice Job Duties:

  • Assists in servicing and inspecting backflows, standpipes, AFL, fire pumps, wet, dry, and pre-action fire suppression systems
  • Inspects, maintains, and repairs fire sprinkler equipment and systems in accordance with applicable codes and standards
  • Ensures that all work is completed with quality workmanship
  • Maintains good rapport with customers
  • Documents service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records in a timely manner
  • Maintains uniform and tools
  • Responds to service calls, including answering phone calls, communicating any emergency service calls to Service Manager, and handling emergency service calls when needed
  • Able to work under pressure and as part of a team
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
  • Will be enrolled in registered apprenticeship program
  • Continues fire sprinkler fitter education, including working toward obtaining ABPA and journeyman licenses in IA, MN, and NE
