What We're Looking For:
The design assurance team supports Zebra's promise of quality to our customers and is responsible for ensuring products meet specifications throughout program phases from components to final product.
  • Working as part of a design team, provides all design assurance deliverables required in the development process at each phase with high level of coaching, including:
  • Evaluation of the materials, properties and techniques used in production of Zebra's devices or solutions
  • Advising design engineering on the selection, application and test of mechanical and/or electronic components and systems
  • Evaluating design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product reliability
  • Determining reliability requirements of components and systems to achieve company, customer and any governmental agency reliability objectives
  • Using statistical methods to design reliability and verification test plans
  • Participate in creation and analysis of qualification test plans and results
  • Creating and analyzing designed experiments to determine main effects of low complexity device sub-systems to improve designs
  • Using hypothesis testing and other statistical methods to assess the significance of test results
  • Actively reviewing, understand and applying the Market Requirements Document and
  • Engineering Specifications to quantify metrics and acceptance thresholds
  • May or may not be responsible for managing quality and reliability sub team activties to support the initiatives of the core development team, program manager or product line management deliverables
  • Communicates proactively with the project team and other stakeholders about progress against qualification testing and reliability analysis and results. Proactively tracks metrics for the product prior to and following alpha release.
  • Level 2 roles typically focus on a subset of products / devices in Zebra's portfolio
  • Typically supports multiple derivative new product or sustaining projects simultaneously
  • With input / oversight from a senior engineer or member of management, may make recommendations for changes in the selection and application of components and systems to drive improved reliability
  • Demonstrates familiarity with performing design for quality tasks, design failure mode effects analysis, inspection fixture and measurement systems, manufacturing validation test, build qualification and correction action of results to appropriate core team discipline lead
  • Actively participate in program Risk Assessment and mitigation activities.
  • Assist project team in understanding technical issues and approaches to determining root cause and corrective action.
  • Escalates novel issues or concerns about design approach and conformance to standards to a senior level engineer or manager for assistance
  • Analyze and approve Engineering changes to production products
  • Contributes to innovation efforts by participating actively in brainstorming activities and actively benchmarking externally with other organizations on best practices in design assurance
  • Provides product qualification or reliability test support over the life-cycle of the product to support cost saving initiatives, end of life part requalifications, second source requalifications or critical design improvements due to field performance or customer escalations.

Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering field (Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineer)
Minimum Work Experience (years):
• Minimum 2+ years' experience in Hardware Engineering &/or Electronics Engineer

Pay Range:
$76,640.00 - $114,960.00 Annual
Incentive Compensation:
In addition to base pay, Zebra offers this role the opportunity to earn a performance-based annual cash incentive, at a target equal to 10% of base pay, in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
