Job Summary:
PGS Worldwide is seeking a Software Engineer in Rolling Meadows, IL for a one-year contract role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. The Software Engineer will support the Radio Frequency Business Unit by designing, developing, testing, integrating, operating, and maintaining software components and computing systems.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Design, develop, operate, and maintain software components and computing systems.
โ€ข Develop software applied to engineering, scientific, and manufacturing requirements.
โ€ข Support software applications and products for the Radio Frequency Business Unit.
โ€ข Apply standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle.
โ€ข Develop software using C++ and object-oriented design principles.
โ€ข Create graphical user interfaces and support Windows-based applications.
โ€ข Work with relational databases and SQL.
โ€ข Support requirements analysis, software design, coding, testing, debugging, and integration.
โ€ข Use version control and Agile planning tools to support team workflows.
โ€ข Interface with customers, application users, and technical support teams.
โ€ข Work in an Agile team environment focused on collaboration, shared responsibility, flexibility, continuous learning, and automation.
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข Bachelorโ€™s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar engineering discipline with 5+ years of engineering experience; masterโ€™s degree with 3+ years of experience; or additional experience in lieu of degree.
โ€ข Object-oriented programming experience in C++.
โ€ข Experience creating graphical user interfaces.
โ€ข Familiarity with software architecture, design patterns, and object-oriented design.
โ€ข Familiarity with relational database management systems using SQL.
โ€ข Experience developing software running on Windows operating systems.
โ€ข Experience with software development methodologies and frameworks such as Waterfall and/or Agile.
โ€ข Familiarity with version control systems such as Git, GitLab, GitHub, Bitbucket, or ClearCase.
โ€ข Familiarity with Agile software planning tools such as Rally or Jira.
โ€ข Ability to support the full software development life cycle, including requirements, design, coding, testing, and integration.
โ€ข Ability to interface with customers, application users, and technical support personnel.
โ€ข U.S. citizenship required.
โ€ข Must be able to obtain an active Secret or Top Secret clearance and meet Enhanced Security Review criteria prior to start.
Preferred:
โ€ข C++11 experience.
โ€ข Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Batch.
โ€ข Experience testing, debugging, and integrating software on target hardware platforms.
โ€ข Qt framework experience.
โ€ข DOORS requirements management experience.
โ€ข Active Secret clearance.
โ€ข Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal communication skills.
โ€ข Experience with RF systems, engineering applications, manufacturing software, Agile development, software automation, GUI tools, database-backed applications, and embedded or hardware-integrated software.
