ATI is seeking to hire a Melting Operations Manager to support Electron-Beam-Furnace and Vacuum-Arc-Furnace operations at our Richland, WA facility.

The Melting Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all production, maintenance, safety, quality, and operational activities within a titanium melting facility. This role ensures efficient, safe, and cost-effective operation of vacuum melting furnaces and associated production processes while maintaining compliance with customer specifications, aerospace quality standards, and environmental regulations. The Operations Manager drives continuous improvement initiatives, maximizes plant productivity, and leads cross-functional teams to achieve operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily titanium melting and casting operations, including Vacuum Arc Remelting (VAR) and Electron Beam Melting (EBM), to achieve production, quality, and delivery objectives.
  • Develop and execute production schedules while monitoring throughput, equipment utilization, yield, and other key performance indicators.
  • Ensure compliance with metallurgical specifications, process controls, and standard operating procedures.
  • Foster a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, and company policies, while leading incident investigations and corrective actions.
  • Partner with Quality and Metallurgical Engineering to maintain compliance with customer requirements and industry standards, including ISO 9001, AS9100, and NADCAP.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance to maximize equipment reliability, plant uptime, and execution of capital improvement projects.
  • Lead, coach, and develop supervisors and plant personnel while supporting workforce planning, hiring, training, and succession planning.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, quality, yield, and cost performance.
  • Manage departmental budgets, labor, maintenance, and operating costs while supporting capital planning and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Work cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and Logistics to optimize operational performance and support business objectives.

Salary Range: $100,000 to $130,000


Basic Qualifications

  • Six years of professional experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience managing, guiding, and developing employees in a production or operations role

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • Experience with Lean Principles in a manufacturing environment.
  • Oracle, Maximo, etc. experience
  • Advanced knowledge of production, operations, and materials planning, practices, and processes

Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, and Power Point at a minimum) required to accomplish day-to-day work activities and willingness to learn additional programs
  • Exceptional analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
  • Effective interpersonal, leadership, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management and prioritization skills
