Reports To: Project Manager / Construction Manager

Position Summary

The Site Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all on-site construction activities for data center projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contract documents and quality standards. This role is critical to coordinating trades, managing site logistics, and maintaining strict safety and operational standards in a mission-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities

Site Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead and manage all day-to-day field operations on the data center construction site
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and commissioning agents
  • Maintain site logistics plans, sequencing, and workflow efficiency
  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for construction activities

Schedule & Execution

  • Develop, manage, and enforce detailed project schedules (including look-ahead schedules)
  • Ensure milestones are met, especially for critical path activities (MEP, commissioning, turnover)
  • Proactively identify and resolve conflicts, delays, or constructability issues

Quality Control

  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with drawings, specifications, codes, and data center standards
  • Conduct daily site inspections and enforce quality expectations across all trades
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, and commissioning activities

Safety Management

  • Enforce all site safety policies, OSHA regulations, and client-specific safety requirements
  • Lead daily toolbox talks and site safety meetings
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free jobsite

MEP & Critical Systems Oversight

  • Oversee installation of mission-critical systems including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, fire protection, and controls
  • Ensure redundancy, reliability, and resiliency requirements are met
  • Coordinate with commissioning teams during testing and turnover

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain daily logs, manpower reports, and progress photos
  • Track RFIs, submittals, change events, and punch lists
  • Communicate progress, risks, and issues to project leadership

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience as a Superintendent or Senior Superintendent, on data center, mission-critical, or large-scale commercial projects
  • Strong understanding of MEP systems and their integration in data center environments
  • Proven ability to manage multiple subcontractors and fast-paced schedules
  • Thorough knowledge of construction safety standards and best practices
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, drawings, and specifications
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience on Tier III or Tier IV data center projects
  • Familiarity with commissioning processes and Uptime Institute standards
  • OSHA 30 certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Proficiency with construction management software (Procore, Primavera, MS Project, etc.)

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Primarily on-site in an active construction environment
  • Ability to walk job sites, climb ladders, and work in varying weather conditions
  • May require extended hours, night work, or weekend work to meet project deadlines
