Position Summary: The Plant Engineer is responsible for the technical, operational, reliability, and safety performance of a designated power generation facility or operational site. Acting as the senior engineering authority on-site, this role ensures reliable plant operations, maintains equipment integrity, supports customer requirements, and drives continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, uptime, and operational excellence. The Plant Engineer serves as the primary technical liaison between VoltaGrid, plant personnel, and the customer while providing leadership in troubleshooting, reliability improvement, maintenance optimization, and regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership and oversight for plant operations, equipment, systems, and processes.
    Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customer representatives and site personnel.
  • Monitor plant performance and respond to power interruptions, equipment failures, and operational abnormalities.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts and coordinate corrective actions to restore service safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for power disruptions, equipment failures, and operational incidents.
  • Develop corrective action plans, incident reports, and reliability improvement recommendations.
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across the facility.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, regulatory standards, and industry best practices.
  • Oversee maintenance activities, inspections, testing programs, and equipment lifecycle management.
  • Support preventative and predictive maintenance programs to maximize reliability and asset availability.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams during commissioning, deployment, and plant operations.
  • Analyze plant operating data, reliability trends, and equipment performance metrics.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, reliability, efficiency, cost performance, and customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare and maintain operational reports, maintenance records, technical procedures, incident investigations, and compliance documentation.
  • Provide technical guidance to plant personnel, technicians, contractors, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Support rotational coverage, emergency response, and non-standard working hours as needed.

Other Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in power generation, industrial operations, plant engineering, field operations, or related technical environments.
  • Strong understanding of power generation systems, electrical systems, mechanical equipment, controls, instrumentation, and plant operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and develop practical solutions.
  • Experience performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
  • Strong safety mindset with knowledge of industrial safety practices, regulatory requirements, and risk management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and operational deadlines.
  • Ability to support rotational scheduling and coverage of other plants as needed.
  • Ability to travel to other VoltaGrid facilities and customer locations as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineering credentials.
  • Prior power generation experience.
  • Industry-specific certifications.
  • Experience leading site operations, maintenance activities, commissioning, deployment, or reliability programs.Customer-facing experience in an industrial, energy, or power generation environment.
