Job description

Amteck is a Top 50 electrical contractor, and we are looking to add a Project Manager - Preventive Maintenance to our Dyersburg team!

PRIMARY ROLE:

The Preventive Maintenance Project Manager (PMPM) is ultimately responsible for the successful planning, execution, quality, customer satisfaction, and financial performance of assigned electrical preventive maintenance programs and related service projects. This position leads all aspects of recurring maintenance agreements, site audits, arc flash studies, infrared inspections, testing services, corrective maintenance recommendations, outage coordination, and customer success activities.

The PMPM serves as the primary point of contact between the customer and Amteck and is responsible for developing long-term partnerships that improve electrical reliability, safety, compliance, and operational performance. This position requires strong business management skills, leadership ability, technical knowledge of electrical systems, excellent communication skills, and a thorough understanding of NFPA 70B, NFPA 70E, NETA standards, OEM maintenance requirements, and industrial maintenance practices.

This position reports to the Director of Preventive Maintenance & Customer Success and works closely with Operations, Service, Engineering, Business Development, Safety, and Executive Leadership teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage all aspects of assigned preventive maintenance programs, service agreements, and maintenance-related projects from initiation through completion.
  • Serve as the primary customer contact for assigned accounts and maintain regular communication regarding project status, findings, recommendations, and future opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships that result in long-term partnerships and recurring maintenance agreements.
  • Coordinate annual maintenance schedules with customers to ensure inspections, testing, outages, shutdowns, and maintenance events are completed on time.
  • Lead project planning activities, including scope development, manpower planning, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, reporting, and resource allocation.
  • Review customer facilities, electrical infrastructure, and operational requirements to develop maintenance strategies that improve equipment reliability and reduce risk.
  • Coordinate and facilitate site audits, asset inventories, equipment criticality assessments, and risk evaluations.
  • Work closely with Business Development personnel to transition opportunities into successful project execution.
  • Manage project costs, labor utilization, material expenditures, subcontractors, and financial performance to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Create and maintain project schedules while coordinating resources across multiple customer locations.
  • Review preventive maintenance reports and inspection findings for technical accuracy, consistency, and quality.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with NFPA 70B, NFPA 70E, OSHA requirements, NETA standards, OEM recommendations, and customer-specific safety requirements.
  • Lead project kickoff meetings, status reviews, customer presentations, closeout meetings, and internal project reviews.
  • Coordinate outage planning and shutdown activities with customers and field leadership.
  • Work directly with Lead Technicians and Maintenance Technicians to establish project expectations, priorities, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Mentor and develop Maintenance Leads, Technicians, and Project Coordinators.
  • Assist with workforce planning and manpower forecasting for maintenance programs and service agreements.
  • Review and approve maintenance scopes, quotes, corrective action plans, and recommendations before submission to customers.
  • Identify opportunities for additional maintenance services, corrective repairs, system upgrades, engineering studies, and reliability improvements.
  • Support development and implementation of department standards, processes, templates, reporting tools, and best practices.
  • Review and analyze maintenance data, equipment condition information, testing results, and asset health indicators to identify trends and risks.
  • Assist customers with maintenance budgeting and capital planning efforts by identifying future maintenance and reliability needs.
  • Manage project documentation including maintenance reports, action item logs, schedules, customer correspondence, inspection records, and closeout documents.
  • Coordinate procurement of tools, testing equipment, rental equipment, materials, and subcontract services.
  • Review and resolve open purchase orders, project costs, invoices, and receivables.
  • Ensure maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with Amteck quality standards.
  • Investigate customer concerns, project challenges, quality issues, and safety incidents while implementing corrective actions.
  • Provide leadership in promoting a culture focused on safety, quality, accountability, professionalism, and customer success.
  • Communicate effectively with all internal departments and external stakeholders.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Technical Expertise:

  • Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems, industrial electrical equipment, motor control systems, switchgear, transformers, MCCs, panelboards, protective devices, and control systems.
  • Thorough understanding of NFPA 70B electrical maintenance requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA 70E, OSHA regulations, and electrical safety practices.
  • Knowledge of NETA testing procedures and electrical reliability principles.
  • Ability to interpret electrical one-line drawings, control schematics, equipment specifications, maintenance reports, and testing results.
  • Understanding of asset management, equipment criticality, risk assessment, reliability-centered maintenance, and predictive maintenance technologies.
  • Working knowledge of infrared thermography, power quality analysis, electrical testing, and condition-based maintenance practices.

Project Management Skills:

  • Ability to manage multiple customers, projects, schedules, and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong planning, scheduling, budgeting, and organizational skills.
  • Experience coordinating outages, shutdowns, maintenance events, and field personnel.
  • Ability to identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to establish priorities and delegate responsibilities effectively.

  • Experience with maintenance management software, project management systems, scheduling software, and mobile reporting tools.
  • Ability to analyze maintenance data and develop customer-facing reports.
  • Strong overall computer skills and ability to learn new software platforms quickly.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Promote, enforce, and support all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, company policy, and customer requirements.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the belief that all incidents are preventable.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Reports directly to the Director of Preventive Maintenance & Customer Success.
  • Works closely with Business Development Managers, Project Coordinators, Lead Technicians, Maintenance Technicians, Regional Operations Leadership, Engineering, Safety, and Executive Leadership.
  • Serves as the primary communication link between customers and the Preventive Maintenance Department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in industrial electrical maintenance, electrical service, reliability engineering, electrical testing, project management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience managing maintenance programs, service projects, or industrial operations.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical preventive maintenance principles and best practices.
  • Thorough understanding of NFPA 70B, NFPA 70E, OSHA requirements, and applicable electrical codes.
  • Experience working within industrial manufacturing, processing, utility, or commercial facilities.
  • Ability to review and understand maintenance reports, testing data, and equipment condition assessments.
  • Strong financial awareness and understanding of project cost management.
  • Current valid driver's license.
  • Ability to travel as required to customer locations, approximately 50% maximum
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and customer service skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:

The physical demands and work environment factors for this position will vary greatly based on customer facilities and project locations. Candidates must be comfortable working in manufacturing plants, processing facilities, utility environments, commercial facilities, and outdoor environments.

Travel may be required to support customer locations and project activities. Site visits may involve exposure to energized electrical equipment, industrial hazards, elevated work platforms, varying weather conditions, confined spaces, and extended walking throughout large facilities. Candidates must be capable of conducting facility assessments, participating in outage activities, attending customer meetings, and supporting field operations as necessary.
