We are looking for anEngineering and Maintenance Managerto join Kaiser Aluminum Tennalum in Jackson Tennessee!

The Engineering and Maintenance Manager will report to the Plant Manager and be responsible for administration and continuous improvement of an effective Work Management System, ensuring the effectiveness, reliability, and sustainability of all facility manufacturing assets; as well as leading the Project Engineering Team.

What you will work on:

  • This role has responsibility to ensure plant manufacturing equipment operates reliably by deploying preventive and predictive maintenance practices and reliability analytics with a deep focus on heavy hydraulics extrusion presses, billet heating equipment, and automated finishing lines.
  • This individual will focus on driving sustained improvement across the plant in the areas of maintenance business process improvements to world class standards.
  • The role establishes and plans for all training that will insure all members of the maintenance and project engineering departments are aligned with company, plant and department objectives.
  • Will be successful in change management centered on lean manufacturing focused on asset reliability (Standardized Work, 5S, Strategy Development)
  • Act as an organizational change agent focused on driving operational controllable costs and achieving Earned/Forecast departmental spending.
  • Cost conscience and results driven system manager who utilizes data to drive efficiency and effectiveness to improve customer satisfaction while achieving spending.
  • Manage maintenance services and ensure operational reliability of plant equipment.
  • Facilitate advanced Reliability Engineering tools/techniques with emphasis on advanced Problem-Solving methods using the DMAIC methodology.
  • Ensure 5S compliance, create and manage overhaul schedules for sustained performance.
  • Develop, monitor and ensure timely completion of plant goals/action plans, both short and long term that result in achievement of equipment uptime initiatives.
  • Assist Plant Manager in making operational system design improvements to reduce costs and to increase productivity.
  • Utilize new technology and Lean Manufacturing principals and processes to maximize efficiency (FMEA, Six Sigma, Kaizen, DMAIC Problem Solving, etc.).
  • Plan, manage and execute capital asset program in compliance with Annual Operating Plan and established policy.
  • Sustain or develop a network base with equipment vendors.
  • Initiation of Cost Saving Initiatives (CSIs) including management of utilities and equipment that demonstrate improvements in costs, uptime, quality, safety.
  • High level leadership of the Department Planning/Scheduling process.
  • Develop a work environment within manufacturing that promotes trust, teamwork quality and safety.
  • Assign accountability, build teams, hire, develop, evaluate, train, coach and discipline with Corrective action as needed.
  • Ensure the adherence to Safeway policies, practices, and procedures and ensure the production of a quality product in compliance with Federal and State guidelines. Ensure all regulatory compliance as applicable.
  • Strategy Deployment TTI & Action Plan Ownership. To seek opportunities to improve machine uptime and identify areas in need of future engineering project focus.
  • Problem identification and resolution through hands-on problem solving or ongoing employee development.
  • To schedule, monitor, and manage (through Maximo) that all monthly, quarterly, and annual TPM is completed on time.
  • To drive continuous improvement of all TPM routines based on MTBF data and technological improvements as well.
  • To communicate and monitor the SQDC performance, daily work habits, and responsibilities of the Maintenance Mechanics in your department.

What you will bring to the role:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or similar field.
  • Preferred Education: MBA
  • A minimum of seven (7) years in manufacturing/production environment leading maintenance and engineering, preferably with experience in aluminum extrusion, drawing, or heavy metals facility.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of manufacturing plant engineering/management experience which includes financial management and project development and project management experience in a high volume/technology manufacturing sector.
  • Strong career growth and added responsibilities, along with activities that are data-driven based on reliability analytics.
  • Strong PC skills, including Windows, Word, and Excel.
  • Solid technical understanding of PLC/SCADA control platforms, industrial networks, industrial hydraulics, and thermal processes (aging/billet heating/heat treating).
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to work in teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Preferred experience:

  • TPM based educational training a plus.
  • SMRP - Certification is preferred
  • CMMS - Computerized Maintenance Management System experience. Extensive Maximo experience is preferred.
  • CPMM- Certified Plant Maintenance Manager is preferred.
