Talon Hiring Solutions is partnering with a leading organization in the Greenville, South Carolina area to identify an experienced Diesel Maintenance Manager to lead a team of skilled technicians responsible for the repair, maintenance, and reliability of heavy mobile equipment. The ideal candidate will bring proven leadership experience along with extensive hands-on expertise maintaining and troubleshooting loaders, excavators, haul trucks, mining equipment, crushing and screening equipment, and other heavy construction machinery.

What You'll Do

  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with OSHA, MSHA, and company safety standards.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop heavy equipment mechanics and maintenance personnel
  • Schedule work assignments, prioritize repairs, and coordinate preventive maintenance activities
  • Monitor employee performance and ensure accurate labor reporting
  • Oversee repairs and preventive maintenance on; front-end loaders, excavators, haul equipment, front-end loaders, haul trucks, mining equipment, crushing and screening equipment, dozers and off-road heavy equipment
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, diesel engine, drivetrain, transmission, brake, and mechanical systems
  • Coordinate repair planning to maximize equipment availability while minimizing downtime
  • Ensure repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and according to manufacturer specifications
  • Utilize diagnostic software and equipment to identify mechanical and electrical failures.
  • Develop long-term solutions to recurring maintenance issues
  • Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and ensure timely service intervals
  • Monitor maintenance costs while identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime
  • Maintain accurate repair records and work orders using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Collaborate with operations, vendors, manufacturers, and outside service providers to keep equipment production-ready
  • Coordinate equipment availability to support daily production schedules

What You'll Bring

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years of heavy equipment repair and maintenance experience
  • 5+ years of supervisory or maintenance leadership experience
  • Hands-on experience maintaining and repairing; loaders, excavators, mining equipment, crushers and screening equipment, haul trucks and heavy construction equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills involving hydraulic, electrical, diesel, and mechanical systems
  • Experience managing preventive maintenance programs
  • Knowledge of OSHA and MSHA safety regulations
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, coach, and develop maintenance personnel
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in aggregate, mining, quarry, construction materials, or heavy civil operations preferred
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
  • Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • ASE, CAT, Komatsu, John Deere, or other heavy equipment certifications are highly
