Job description

Position Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer Intern will support engineering, maintenance, and production teams in driving process improvements, increasing efficiency, and assisting in problem-solving across manufacturing operations. This role provides hands-on exposure to lean manufacturing, equipment reliability, and project management with a specific focus on maintenance 5S initiatives and critical spare parts analysis.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing, improving, and documenting manufacturing processes, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Lead/support maintenance 5S projects to improve tool organization, workplace safety, and equipment uptime.
  • Conduct a critical spares analysis to identify essential parts, establish stocking levels, and minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Collect and analyze production and maintenance data (cycle times, downtime, scrap, utilization, PM completion rates, etc.) to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Support lean manufacturing initiatives, including 5S, Kaizen events, and waste reduction projects.
  • Participate in equipment trials, tooling validations, and new product introductions.
  • Assist in troubleshooting production issues and recommending corrective actions.
  • Create and update CAD drawings, process flow diagrams, and layouts as needed.
  • Work with cross-functional teams (Production, Maintenance, Quality, Tooling) to support day-to-day operations and projects.
  • Present project results and recommendations to plant leadership.
