Team Overview
The U.S. Compliance Advisory team provides practical, risk-based compliance advice to business stakeholders on regulatory obligations that apply to TransUnion's U.S. products, sales activity, customer questions and operations support.
The team sits within the Risk and Compliance Department and partners closely with Global Solutions, U.S. Markets, Global Operations, Legal, Global Audit and Advisory, Global Technology and Data and Analytics.
This role reports to the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer.This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.
Role Overview and Core Responsibilities
  • Lead and set the strategic direction, operating model, priorities and key initiatives for the U.S. Compliance Advisory function, ensuring resources are aligned to the highest-impact business, regulatory and risk priorities.

  • Serve as a senior strategic advisor to business leaders by providing timely, practical and risk-based guidance that enables responsible innovation while ensuring compliance with applicable U.S. regulatory obligations.

  • Oversee compliance advisory support for product development through the Product Development Life Cycle, drive continuous improvement of approval and advisory processes, and partner with International Risk and Compliance and Global Solutions to expand the new product approval process globally.

  • Lead enterprise assessment of new laws and regulations impacting U.S. products, customers, sales activity and operations, ensuring clear ownership, prioritization and execution of required implementation plans.

  • Provide executive oversight for Issue Management by guiding business leaders through identification of control breaks, assessment of customer or consumer impact, root cause investigation and timely remediation of potential harm.

  • Partner with Regulatory Exam Management to shape and support the company's approach to regulatory exams, inquiries and enforcement activity, ensuring responses are coordinated, timely, risk-based and appropriately escalated.

  • Build and maintain trusted executive relationships across Global Solutions, U.S. Markets, Global Operations, Legal, Risk and Compliance, Global Audit and Advisory, Global Technology and Data and Analytics to influence outcomes in a highly matrixed environment.

  • Develop organizational capability by coaching, mentoring and leading the U.S. Compliance Advisory team, including managers, while assessing talent, succession, seniority, expertise and resourcing needs required to support current and future priorities.

  • Own and strengthen policy governance, Cross Functional Leadership Team advisory support and Risk and Compliance Committee oversight by ensuring subject matter expert accountability, timely policy maintenance, effective escalation and consistent risk-based decision-making.

Required Knowledge and Experiences
  • Bachelor's degree and 15 or more years of compliance experience in a highly regulated industry, including successive leadership roles and seven or more years managing teams, including managers.

  • Deep expertise in U.S. consumer protection laws, including Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices (UDAAP), Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) and Driver's Privacy Protection Act (DPPA), with the ability to apply that expertise to product, sales, operations and customer support decisions.

  • Experience with U.S. privacy laws, including data broker laws, California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and other comprehensive state privacy laws, with the ability to assess business impact and lead required implementation plans.

  • Experience navigating highly matrixed organizations and interacting effectively with senior leaders, regulators and external entities.

Required Technical Skills
  • Working knowledge of the Product Development Life Cycle process and the ability to use it to guide compliant product development and continuous process improvement.

  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities, deadlines, action plans and stakeholder expectations concurrently.

  • Ability to assess regulatory change, Issue Management, policy governance, regulatory exam support and enforcement-related obligations and translate them into practical business requirements.

Pay Scale Information:
The U.S. base salary range for this position is $193,500.00 - $406,500.00 *The salary range for this position reflects a reasonable estimate of the range of compensation for this job. At TransUnion, actual compensation is based on careful consideration of additional factors such as (but not limited to) an individual's education, training, work experience, job-related skill set, location, and industry knowledge, as well as the scope and responsibilities of the position and market considerations. Regular, fulltime non-sales positions may be eligible to participate in TransUnion's annual bonus plan. Certain positions may be also eligible for long-term incentives and other payments based on applicable company guidance and plan documents.
