Job description

Position Overview
This is a regular Student Clerical position with the Center for Excellence in Transformative Teaching & Learning (CETTL) assigned primarily to the Educators' Leadership Academy (ELA). This position will perform a variety of event- and customer service-related functions. Typical duties may include but are not limited to event promotion, event setup, customer service, and usage of Microsoft Office applications.
Hours per Week
Average of 10 hours per week.
College/Department Overview
The Center for Excellence in Transformative Teaching & Learning (CETTL) collaborates with other campus units and individuals to offer programs, services, and resources to encourage, enhance, and support faculty in helping students learn. CETTL is comprised of four major programs: the Educator's Leadership Academy (ELA), the 21st Century Pedagogy Institute, the Student Transformative Learning Record (STLR), and the annual Transformative Learning Conference.
Department Specific Job Functions
This student position will support the operations of CETTL in many ways, with a primary focus on ELA professional development programs.
  • Creating logos and branding for CETTL events and activities.
  • Developing visual design and imagery for written publications and program websites.
  • Provide logistical assistance to ELA and CETTL for events and activities, including:
      • Creating, editing, and distributing event programs, flyers, and advertisements.
      • Creating signage and nametags.
      • Organizing and moving materials, food, and beverages.
      • Working with vendors to accept delivery of food and materials.
      • Assisting with the attendee check-in process.
  • Utilize social media (LinkedIn, etc.) to promote ELA and CETTL programs and activities.
  • Complete basic data-entry tasks in ELA and CETTL databases.
  • Create and maintain inventories of office supplies and program-specific products.
  • Be service-orientated by actively looking for ways to help staff and visitors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Enrollment Requirements
Fall/Spring Semesters: All student employees must be enrolled at least half-time to be eligible to work any UCO student position. Half-time enrollment for fall/spring semesters is considered 5 hours for graduates and 6 hours for undergraduates. F1/J1 Visa students must be enrolled full-time to be eligible to work as a student employee. Full-time enrollment is 9 credit hours for graduates and 12 credit hours for undergraduates.
Summer Semester: To work in a regular student position during the summer semester, students must be enrolled in at least 3 summer credit hours or be enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in the minimum credit hours required for their classification and employment type. Students enrolled in fewer than 3 summer credit hours will be subject to FICA taxes during the summer term, which apply to both the student and the department. For Federal Work Study Program (FWSP) positions, students must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours (undergraduate) or 5 credit hours (graduate).
Note: New incoming students are not eligible for student employment until the semester in which they begin classes.
Enrollment Exception: If the number of credit hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum number of hours required for student employment, the student must obtain a letter from their Academic Advisor (stating the number of hours needed to graduate and anticipated graduation date) and submit it to Human Resources. Qualifications/Experience Preferred
  • Graphic design experience from coursework, professionally, or a combination.
  • Experience and proficiency utilizing graphic design programs, including Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.)
  • Familiarity with and moderate proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office 365 products (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
  • Experience utilizing social media applications, primarily LinkedIn and Instagram.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to receive and understand directions for an assigned task, ask clarifying questions as needed, and successfully complete the task.
  • Ability to adhere to an assigned work schedule and utilize good time management skills.

  • Proficiency in oral and written English and good writing and proof-reading skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and awareness of cultural communication differences.
