Job description

Purpose:
The Tower Service Manager will direct and manage all tower and hoist service at their respective branch with overall responsibilities for equipment maintenance, safety compliance, customer satisfaction and other related activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Direct and manage branch performance and operations for equipment rentals, maintenance, safety, etc.
  • Ensure Technicians have the proper skill set for the repair, maintenance, assembly, climbs, and disassembly of tower cranes and hoists
  • Work closely with Tower Crane Regional Operations Manager to schedule technicians for assembly and disassembly of tower cranes
  • Implement cost-effective systems of control over operating expenditures, manpower, wages, and salaries
  • Review/approve employee time sheets
  • Manage equipment maintenance
  • Maintain existing branch facilities and equipment; replace or adjust branch facilities and equipment when necessary
  • Provides direction, training, development, and leadership to technicians and other service personnel
  • Enforce and support safety initiatives and policies through coordination with the branch/regional safety coordinators
  • Communicate with Technicians during assembly/disassembly to confirm the arrival of the crew, assist crane and components as trucks arrive, and coordinate with Regional Operations Manager as needed
  • Ensure proper crane, attachment, and component condition for upcoming jobs and that Off-rent inspections are completed before disassembly of cranes
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, ANSI, ASME, etc.) as well as Maxim policies and procedures

Requirements:
  • Moderate knowledge of budgets and financial statements
  • Moderate knowledge of process improvement programs and procedures
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Moderate knowledge of what is required when transporting tower cranes
  • Advanced knowledge of tower crane functionality, terminology, maintenance, and repair practices
  • Ability to work from Operations Manuals, Service Manuals and Capacity Charts
  • Ability to read and understand shop and project drawings
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems

Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 5+ years' experience in crane service environment
  • 2+ years' management experience in crane service environment

Language Skills:
Must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos and the ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, use hands to finger; handle or feel; and kneel; crouch; or crawl; and talk; or hear; push and/or pull; reach; climb; bend and/or stoop. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
