Job description

Job Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Commercial Refrigeration Installer to join our team. This role will focus on building walk-in coolers/freezers, running refrigeration line sets, and leading install crews on commercial job sites. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience, can lead a small team, and is comfortable working both locally and out of town when needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Install walk-in coolers and freezers (panel assembly, doors, sealing, etc.)
  • Install and connect refrigeration systems including evaporators, condensers, and line sets
  • Run copper refrigeration piping, including proper supports, insulation, and leak testing
  • Perform pressure testing, evacuation, charging, and system startup
  • Read and interpret blueprints and mechanical plans
  • Lead and manage a crew of 2โ€“4 installers on job sites
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and up to company standards
  • Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, and other trades
  • Troubleshoot installation issues and make adjustments in the field

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of commercial refrigeration installation experience
  • Experience installing commercial refrigeration units, including walk-in coolers, freezers, display cases, and integrated HVAC/R systems according to schematics and design specifications
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to manage a small crew
  • Ability to read plans and work independently
  • Valid driverโ€™s license and clean driving record
  • Ability to lift 100+ lbs and work in physically demanding environments
  • Willingness to travel and work out of town as needed
  • Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, including service reports, schematics updates, and maintenance logs

Skills

  • Extensive construction experience related to commercial refrigeration installation projects
  • Proven service technician experience with HVAC/R systems and appliance repair in commercial environments
  • Strong understanding of schematics, HVAC design principles, plumbing systems, and mechanical knowledge
  • Field service expertise with the ability to troubleshoot complex refrigeration and HVAC issues on-site
  • Valid driverโ€™s license with a clean driving record (including driver requirements) for transportation between job sites
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters for electrical troubleshooting
  • Ability to read blueprints accurately and follow detailed schematics during installation or repair processes
  • Experience working with HVAC/R equipment such as air conditioning units, boilers, pumps, and mechanical systems
