Service Technician – Steel Industry (Refractories)

Location: Portage, IN (Chicagoland Area)

Pay: $25/hr + Full Benefits

Join a Specialized Leader in the Steel Industry

TYK America, Inc. is a manufacturer of high-performance refractory products used in steelmaking operations across North America. We are currently seeking a Service Technician to support our customers in the steel industry through onsite service, product monitoring, and technical support.

This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with steel mill experience, or strong industrial experience who is willing to learn the refractory side of the business.

What You’ll Do

• Work directly onsite with steel mill customers to support product use and performance
• Monitor installation of refractory products in steelmaking environments
• Track and document product trial results and performance data
• Perform inventory counts and assist with inventory control
• Support internal reporting and documentation using Microsoft Office
• Assist sales and technical teams with customer support needs
• Provide feedback on product performance and field conditions

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in the steel industry strongly preferred
• Exposure to refractories or steelmaking processes (ladles, ladle gates, LF, RH, continuous casting) is a plus
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in industrial environments
