Job description

Role Description:

The Quality Assurance Technician role at Kelsen Refractories U.S.A. is a full-time, on-site position based in Pittsburgh, PA. The employee will work primarily during the afternoon/early evening hours. The technician is responsible for performing routine and non-routine quality inspections on raw materials, in-process products, and finished refractory products, following established procedures and industry standards. Daily activities include sampling materials, conducting tests using measuring instruments and laboratory equipment, documenting results, and reporting nonconformities to supervisors or quality management. The role involves maintaining and updating quality records, assisting with root-cause analysis for quality issues, and supporting corrective and preventive actions. The technician will collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure products meet specifications and regulatory requirements, while helping to maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment.


Qualifications:

Strong quality control and quality assurance skills, with experience in inspecting materials and products against defined standards.

Proficiency in quality management practices, including documentation, adherence to procedures, and support of continuous improvement activities.

Solid analytical skills, with the ability to interpret test data, identify trends or deviations, and provide accurate, timely reports.

Experience with calibration of measuring instruments and testing equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results.

Attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions, test methods, and safety protocols in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Basic computer skills for data entry, quality reporting, and use of spreadsheets or quality management software.

Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across production, engineering, and quality departments.

High school diploma or equivalent required; technical coursework or certification in quality, materials science, or related field is beneficial.

Prior experience in refractory, materials, or heavy manufacturing industries is an advantage but not required.
