Job description

LP ModelerPBF Energy Inc. (NYSE:PBF) is one of the largest independent refiners in North America, operating through its subsidiaries, oil refineries and related facilities. We are seeking a talented LP Modeler OR Sr. LP Modeler to join our team as a pivotal member that would play a key role here at PBF Energy. This role would be located onsite at our Company headquarters in Parsippany, NJ or at one of our refinery locations.

We are seeking a talented LP Modeler OR Sr. LP Modeler to join the LP Modeling Team at PBF Energy. This role plays a critical part in optimizing refinery performance by supporting feedstock selection, product blending, and operational decision-making. The LP Modeler will be responsible for maintaining and improving linear programming models used by both refinery and corporate teams. Success in this role requires ensuring models accurately represent crude properties, process yields, and operational constraints. The LP Modeler will serve as the primary point of contact for one or more refineries, ensuring models and economic tools are updated and aligned with business needs.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain, validate, and enhance refinery LP models to ensure accuracy and reliability

  • Manage and prioritize the modeling worklist for assigned refinery sites; communicate status and progress to stakeholders

  • Lead the backcasting process, comparing LP predictions to actual unit performance to identify gaps and improvement opportunities

  • Support LP users with case setup, troubleshooting, and interpretation of results

  • Develop, standardize, and continuously improve input/output interfaces and data workflows for LP models to ensure consistency, accuracy, and ease of use across refineries

  • Collaborate with refinery and corporate teams to implement model improvements

  • Continuously build expertise in LP modeling and refining processes through training and hands-on application

Required Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field

  • 5+ years of experience in refinery process engineering, economics, or planning

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing business needs

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Proactive, self-directed approach to work

  • Willingness to travel (~5%)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with refinery LP modeling tools such as PIMS or GRTMPS

  • Prior hands-on experience building, maintaining, or validating LP models in a refining environment

  • Familiarity with crude assay management, blending economics, and refinery planning processes

  • Understanding of refinery process units and their representation in LP models

  • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools

The compensation range listed in this posting is in compliance with applicable state law. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills and internal peer equity will be considered in determining the selected candidate's compensation. Salaries at the time of hire are typically in the lower to middle portion of the above range in order to provide the opportunity to reflect future performance-based increases.
