  • Brisbane based

Join a team that's All Kinds of Useful

At Origin, being useful is more than a tagline - it’s how we approach work every day. As a collective, we’re a team that thrives on finding better ways, working together, and owning our impact. From powering homes to delivering award-winning internet and helping to lead Australia’s energy transition. If you’re driven by purpose and excited to be part of something bigger, we’d love to have you on the journey.

About the role:

Are you ready to take the next step in your process safety career?

We're looking for a Senior Process Safety Engineer to join our LPG Operational Integrity team on a 12 month limited term contract. Supporting one of Australia's largest LPG networks, including 45 terminals and 11 Major Hazard Facilities (MHFs), you'll play a pivotal role in managing process safety risk, supporting regulatory compliance and driving continuous improvement across the business.

Working closely with Engineering, Operations, HSE and regulatory stakeholders, you'll provide technical leadership across risk assessments, Safety Cases, incident investigations and process safety systems. This is an exciting opportunity to broaden your experience, influence strategic safety outcomes and contribute to the safe and reliable operation of a critical national energy network.

Whether you're an experienced Process Safety Engineer or someone looking to step into a more senior role, we'd love to hear from you if you're passionate about process safety, enjoy solving complex problems and are eager to learn.

Why this role matters?
  • Lead and support the development and maintenance of Safety Cases for Origin's Major Hazard Facilities.
  • Provide technical leadership across process safety, risk management, Management of Change and safety critical controls.
  • Facilitate risk assessments including HAZOPs, LOPA, Bowtie Analysis and Operational Risk Assessments to ensure risks remain SFARP.
  • Partner with Engineering, Operations and HSE teams to strengthen process safety capability and embed best practice.
  • Support regulatory audits, incident investigations and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety performance.
  • Help shape the future of process safety by identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes and the use of emerging technologies.
What will you bring?
  • Engineering qualifications with experience in process safety, risk management or high hazard industries.
  • Experience or exposure to process safety methodologies such as HAZOP, LOPA, Bowtie Analysis or Safety Cases.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risk and develop practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse teams.
  • A proactive mindset, curiosity to learn and a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Chartered Engineer status and extensive Major Hazard Facility experience are highly regarded but not essential for candidates who can demonstrate strong capability and a willingness to grow into the role.

Don't meet every requirement?

We know great candidates don't always tick every box. If you're excited by this 12-month contract opportunity and believe you have transferable skills, relevant experience or the capability to grow into the role, we encourage you to apply. At Origin, we're committed to developing our people and supporting career growth.

So, why join us?
  • Thrive in a culture of personal and professional growth with access to LinkedIn Learning and development programs.
  • Purchase up to four additional weeks of leave annually.
  • Engage in opportunities through the Origin Foundation to support your community.
  • Powering your career with unbeatable perks - get discounted electricity, gas and internet as an Origin employee.
  • Explore unique and cost-effective employee EV Car subscriptions.
  • Access to our Employee Share Plan and comprehensive Care and Assurance Program.
