Job description

Position Summary

Odyssey has an exciting new opportunity for a Software Engineer position that will ensure that all system and application deliverables meet the requirements of all DoD and Space Force/Air Force Cybersecurity policies.  

The contractor shall perform work that applies a broad theoretical and practical knowledge of software engineering to include but not be limited to reviewing, preparing, and analyzing all types of documentation: Planning, requirements, design, V&V, support and test. Also to include source code, configuration files and engineering resolution support.

Possesses the advanced knowledge, experience and recognized ability to be considered highly skilled in their technical/professional field. Possesses the ability to perform tasks and oversee the efforts of junior and journeyman contractor personnel within the technical/professional discipline. Demonstrates advanced knowledge of their technical/professional discipline as well as possess a comprehensive understanding and ability to apply associated standards, procedures and practices in their area of expertise.

As a vital part of the System Delta 85 organization, which plays a crucial role in national missile defense, this position focuses on supporting scenario generation for various missile warning radars. The role demands a robust understanding of physics and advanced modeling techniques to develop realistic and accurate radar system simulations. The ideal candidate will combine their knowledge of physical principles and modeling expertise to ensure that simulations for radar systems are both reliable and reflective of real-world scenarios. This position is instrumental in enhancing the fidelity and performance of radar system simulations, aligning with SZQE's commitment to advancing national missile warning capabilities.

This is a full-time position in Colorado Springs, CO, working on-site at Peterson Space Force Base (SFB).

Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to: 

  • Developing Simulation Scenarios in MATLAB: Creating and refining radar simulation scenarios using MATLAB, ensuring they accurately mimic potential real-world conditions.
  • MATLAB Scripting for Mathematical Methods: Utilizing MATLAB to develop and implement scripts for sophisticated mathematical methods, enhancing the realism and precision of simulations.
  • Applying Physics Principles: Employing a solid understanding of physics in conjunction with MATLAB tools to improve the accuracy and effectiveness of radar system models.
  • Testing and Validation: Conducting comprehensive testing of MATLAB-based radar simulations, identifying and correcting discrepancies or inaccuracies.
  • Collaboration with Technical Teams: Working collaboratively with software developers and engineers, integrating MATLAB simulations into the broader system testing framework.
  • Continuous Improvement: Continually refining MATLAB models and scripts based on new scientific insights, technological advancements, and feedback from testing processes.
  • Documentation of MATLAB Processes: Documenting the MATLAB simulation processes, including scenario creation, script development, and testing procedures.
  • Analyzing Simulation Data: Analyzing data from MATLAB simulations to evaluate system performance and providing detailed reports and improvement suggestions.
  • Problem-Solving in MATLAB Environment: Resolving complex technical issues encountered in the MATLAB simulation and testing phases.
Qualifications

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

Minimum Required Qualifications:

Clearance: Top Secret

Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related field

Years of Experience: 12 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, to include five years of DoD experience 

Certifications: Contractor shall meet the position requirements in DoD 8570.01 for Information Assurance Technical Level II (IAT Level II). Must be able to obtain Security + CE 

Preferred Qualifications:

Clearance: Top Secret with eligibility to obtain SCI or active SCI

Education: Master's or Doctorate Degree in a related field

Years of experience:  10 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, to include five years of DoD experience.

Certifications: Security+ CE 

Technical Skills:

  • Experience with scripting, algorithm development, and building dynamic system models for aerospace vehicles in MATLAB

  • Familiarity with astrodynamics, orbital mechanics, and sensor coverage

  • Understanding of high-fidelity missile flight dynamics and 6-DOF Modeling

  • Experience manipulating/working with large datasets

  • Experience working in a Linux environment
