RED-Rochester LLC, is the primary utility provider and district energy supplier for the 1,200-acre Eastman Business Park, one of the world’s most comprehensive industrial campuses located in Rochester, NY. RED-Rochester owns and operates a highly reliable and efficient utility infrastructure that delivers a full suite of services—utilizing high pressure industrial boilers and a gas turbine-supporting electricity, steam, chilled water, and other critical utilities across the park. These services are distributed through a dedicated microgrid and industrial systems designed to meet the demands of diverse industrial and commercial tenants.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair rotating mechanical equipment, including:
    1. Pumps (centrifugal and positive displacement)
    2. Motors, compressors, turbines, gearboxes, and blowers
    3. Steam and condensate system components
  • Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance on rotating machinery
  • Align, balance, and test equipment using tools such as dial indicators, laser alignment systems, and vibration analyzers
  • Maintain detailed records of work performed using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
  • Collaborate with engineers, operators, and other maintenance personnel to resolve equipment issues
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures; participate in safety audits and toolbox talks
  • Support equipment upgrades, turnarounds, and emergency response efforts
  • Use of hoists, pulleys, dollies, rollers, trucks, overhead cranes and rigging, lathes, & shop equipment.
  • Potential to work with equipment such as boom lifts, scissor lifts, forklifts and power walkies

Equipment Competencies, but not limited to:

  • All sizes of Pumps from single stage low pressure centrifugal to multi-stage high-pressure (up to and beyond 2000PSI).
  • Refrigeration Units – General Mechanic systems, Bearing and Seal work.
  • Steam Turbines (5-1400PSI) to drive all styles of utilities generation rotating equipment.
  • Equipment auxiliary systems such as: Lube oil lubrication, Hydraulic oil, Speed control & governing, Various cooling water and Storage systems.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • 10 years of applicable utilities mechanic or millwork experience (or comparable Military Service experience within defined trade).
  • Trade school or technical certification in mechanical maintenance.
Qualifications or Licenses:
  • Must obtain required safety operator licenses, as needed for fork truck, man lift and scissor lift within 12 months.
  • OSHA 10hr certification required.
  • OSHA 30hr certification within 12 months of date of hire required.
  • Must have an unencumbered, valid NYS drivers’ license

Work Environment

  • Industrial environment/power plant/treatment plant atmosphere
  • Working outside in all weather conditions from street level to roof tops.
  • Possibility of temperatures ranging from extreme cold to over 100 degrees.
  • Work will take place in chemical areas, noisy areas and areas that may be very dirty
  • Aspects of your job may include possible exposure to Hazardous Materials, such as Asbestos, Lead paint, and other chemicals or waste products. All required PPE and safety training will be provided to eliminate associated risks.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Work in confined spaces and at heights
  • Stand, kneel, and crouch for extended periods
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
