BUSINESS RECRUITMENT DIRECTOR 

Our office (Centergy Building @ 75 5th Street, Atlanta, GA) operates in person on Monday through Thursday; however, flexibility may/will be required if team members are out of the office for work-related travel.

The primary purpose for this role is to generate new business for the department, produce leads, develop senior client relationships, and facilitate and advise on complex projects with our strategic partners. This role will be expected to become subject matter experts (SME) on various industry sectors and provide thought leadership to those areas. 

This role will also be expected to provide leadership in developing and mentoring team members as part of the team development and succession planning including the Business Recruitment Associates and Business Recruitment Managers. 

JOB DESCRIPTION 

The Business Recruitment Director is responsible for engaging and leading economic development efforts to bring jobs and capital investment to Georgia on the statewide level. Activities include domestic and international travel, design and presentation of marketing materials, recommendation of industrial buildings and sites, and conducting site tours for prospects. 

This position is responsible for planning and executing external marketing events that drive new leads to the department. The position reports to the Director of Statewide Economic Development. The position is also responsible for securing new business and sales opportunities. 

This position must be able to work seamlessly with the Business Recruitment Directors/Managers/Associates, regional economic development managers, our internal research, engineering, and marketing teams, and strategic external partners (i.e. Georgia Department of Economic Development, Metro Atlanta Chamber, local economic development authorities, etc.) in these efforts. 

JOB REQUIREMENTS 

  • 4-Year degree in business, engineering or related area is required, and advanced degree (MBA, etc.) is preferred
  • Seven or more years of experience in project management, research, marketing/sales, or customer service is preferred
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills. Must be able to build strong relationships with economic development professionals at the state, regional and local levels as well as potential prospects
  • Strong knowledge of the utility industry including transmission, distribution, and electrical operations is preferred
  • Possess long term relationships with site selection consulting firms, real estate brokerage firms, and industry clients
  • Business experience outside of economic development (business/financial analyst) is required
  • Exceptional presentation skills are required
  • Self-starter and energetic, problem-solving skills are essential
  • Must be driven and capable of meeting job, capital investment and revenue targets
  • Demonstrated ability to generate new leads, present custom content and close sales
  • Demonstrated proficiencies in major programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, and the ability to demonstrate proficiency in a Customer Relationship Management system (i.e. CRM)

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Develop "first call" leads for the department to generate new business
  • Lead economic project activity within a team of external partners when necessary
  • Work closely with economic development partners on projects considering Georgia for new locations or expansions creating jobs, investment, new load and revenue for the enterprise
  • Build and sustain key internal and external relationships with a diverse group of organizations and individuals including strategic partners and influencers of lead generation such as site location consultants and real estate brokers
  • Subject Matter Expert of the strategic location decision process with expertise in state and local incentives, workforce issues, site considerations and other location decision factors
  • Maintain and enhance the positive reputation of the department in its economic development efforts locally, nationally, and internationally
  • Drive the execution of sales strategy based on knowledge of the economic development process, the changing business environment, and other significant factors to yield desired results in the future
  • Cultivate multiple senior client relationships to drive new business development and sales
  • Create and drive standard of excellence
  • Responsible for engagement of junior staff 
  • Drive project activity and revenue projections for the department
  • Demonstrated proficiencies in major software programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the ability to quickly become proficient in Customer Relationship Management system (CRM)
