Job description

Here's what you'll be doing:
  • Provides leadership and supervision of Recreation Department staff, including hiring, coaching, performance management, scheduling, and professional development.

  • Directs all recreation programs and athletic operations, including leagues, tournaments, camps, clinics, and special events, to ensure quality, consistency, and strong community participation.

  • Leads athletic program planning and administration by establishing standards, policies, schedules, and long-term strategies for youth and adult sports.

  • Develops and expands programs, partnerships, and revenue-generating opportunities that support participation growth and financial sustainability.

  • Oversees budget development, grant support, and fiscal management by monitoring expenditures, allocating resources, and aligning programs with financial goals.

  • Ensures compliance with organizational policies, recreation standards, and safety procedures to maintain a safe and secure environment for participants and staff.

  • Uses participation data, registration trends, and community feedback to evaluate program performance and improve services and outcomes.

  • Builds and maintains relationships with schools, athletic associations, community partners, and stakeholders to strengthen programming and community impact.

  • Oversees marketing, outreach, and customer service efforts to promote programs, increase awareness, and resolve escalated participant or community concerns.

  • Directs facility, equipment, and strategic planning needs to support high-quality recreation services and align department goals with Community Center priorities.

  • Develops and maintains external partnerships, serving as the primary representative for athletic associations (WIAA, NAIG) and building relationships with schools, organizations, and community stakeholders.

What you'll need to be successful:
  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation management, Physical Education and/or with a Health minor

  • 3 years of experience preferred in recreational field with a minimum of 1 year in a supervisor capacity.

  • Must successfully pass all applicable background checks and drug screens

  • Must have a valid, clean driver's license and be at least 21 years of age
