Description

The Recreation Specialist is responsible for developing, conducting, and supervising/chaperoning a wide variety of leisure-time activities for all students. Must be available evenings and weekends.  


Job Description:

Support planning, organizing, and carrying out the department's recreational services.

Teach students how to use equipment and follow proper techniques during activities.

Professionally lead activities and ensure they are run safely and smoothly.

Manage a diverse schedule of recreation programs, including arts & crafts, movies, weight room, intramurals, etc).

Request supplies needed and recommend vendors.

Keep accurate daily attendance records for all assigned activities.

Maintain discipline, cleanliness, and proper inventory in assigned areas.

Post monthly activity schedules and submit upcoming activity plans by the required deadline.

Provide monthly lists of off-center cultural trips for the center calendar.

Keep a visible, stocked first aid kit and maintain all recreation equipment.

Assist in the recruitment and supervision of volunteers.

Promote a positive environment and encourage student engagement.

Chaperone off-Center trips.

Timely submit timesheets and required reports.

Train and support student leaders.

Follow CDSS, Code of Conduct, and all DOL, OFCCP, PRH, Bizzell, and Center policies.

Maintain proper property control, housekeeping standards, and safety practices.

Model Bizzell values, Career Success Standards, and reinforce employability skills. 

Participate in all required training. 

Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience

1-2 years of related experience and/or training required.

At least one year working with youth or young adults.


Education

Associate degree, preferably in a related field.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid State Driver's License

CDL Class B with passenger endorsement preferred

Lifeguard certificate preferred
