Job description

DEPARTMENT:       Recreation

 

REPORTS TO:        Fitness and Recreation Manager

SUPERVISES:         N/A

STATUS:                   Non-Exempt

SCHEDULE:            Part-Time

FUNCTION:            The person (people) in this position will fill a variety of program needs.  The nature of the task and responsibilities will change to some degree based upon the program they are assisting in; but their character and attitude must always promote the Christian faith and be in keeping with the Mission of The Salvation Army.


DUTIES:

Summary:

  • To assist in the implementation and supervision of various programs taking place in conjunction with the Recreation Center. This could include monitoring the facilities, special events, classes, field trips and various programs, leagues, and tournaments.
  • Supervision: Helps supervise facilities and volunteers.

 

General

  • Display good character and be passionate about impacting other’s lives through the realm of Sports and Recreation
  • Display a good understanding of Sports
  • Use excellent communication skills to work positively with different populations and build rapport with clients
  • Ensure that a safe and healthy environment exists for participants
  • Give the Fitness and Recreation Manager advanced notice if unable to be at scheduled shift
  • Will work morning, evening, and weekend hours, based on agreed upon schedule
  • Assist with field cleanup after recreation activities

 

 

 

Program Development:  Assists in these areas

  • Assist in such programs as: Pickleball, Kroc Splash Pond, Summer Camp, Afterschool Program, Youth and Kroc Kids Programs, Corps Programming, Leagues, tournaments, Open Gym Time, Kroc Park Activities, Etc. Includes setting up and taking down equipment
  • Assists with any specialized recreation program in the department

Camps:  Assists in these areas

  • Actively participates in camps, clinics, and special events as needed throughout the year
  • All other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate by the Fitness & Recreation Department Management Team

  3. Willing to work a variety of schedules as needed for programming
  4. Must be able to read, write, and communicate clearly in English
  5. Must be able to work well with others
  6. If this person will be needed to drive as part of their responsibilities, then they will need to have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a Salvation Army 12 passenger driving test.
