Description
This position is responsible for supervising assigned athletic and non-athletic recreation programs and for supervising and participating in the operation of sports fields, recreation center, aquatic facility, parks, and other facilities. Work is performed under the general supervision of the assigned supervisor or coordinator.
Job Domains
MAJOR DUTIES
- Supervising the front desk or welcome area to ensure a smooth flow of patrons entering and exiting the facility.
- Maintain recreational inventory and take note of stocks, order requests, and deliveries.
- Answer patrons' questions and resolve customer complaints swiftly according to EPRD guidelines.
- Assist patrons in the use the recreational equipment, or to enter/exit the area safely.
- Assist with recreation safety program and policies and attending to patrons in need of minor medical assistance.
- Assist in the opening/closing of recreational facilities.
- Assist with special programs, events, and tournaments.
- Perform assigned cleaning responsibilities to maintain sanitation of the Recreation Center and its equipment.
- Ensure all weights and accessories are racked after use.
- Ensures recreation aides, teams and officials are game ready and ensures games start on time.
- Ensures all equipment and supplies are available for scheduled games.
- Enforces game and facility rules and calls in assistance as needed.
- Travel with teams for season and postseason play.
- Be attentive to and report equipment issues to Fitness/Facility Supervisor.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The assigned Supervisor or Coordinator assign work in terms of somewhat general instructions. The before mentioned spot-checks completed work for compliance with instructions and establishes procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.

- Guidelines include city and department policies and procedures. These guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
- Responsible for supervising assigned athletic and non-athletic recreation programs and for supervising and participating in the operation of sports fields, recreation center, aquatic facility, parks, and other facilities.

- Contacts are typically with coworkers, other city personnel, participants, and the general public.
- Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, resolve problems, and provide services.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Frequently required to walk, stand, talk, and hear.
- Ability to perform work in a sedentary position for long periods of time; however, may be required to perform non-strenuous activities on an intermittent basis that may require, bending, stooping, reaching, and climbing steps or ladders.
- Ability to work outside in various weather conditions including heat and/or cold.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. on occasion.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY
- Lead and direct work for Recreation Aides while supervising assigned athletic and non-athletic recreation programs and for supervising and participating in the operation of sports fields, recreation center, aquatic facility, parks, and other facilities.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
- Ability to effectively communicate with supervisor, subordinates, co-workers and the general public.
- Ability to complete basic math skills to maintain expenditures and to perform basic computations.
- Ability to compose written documents and reports.
- Ability to read and comprehend reports and manuals.
- Knowledge of coordination and planning process in accordance to EPRD guidelines.
- Knowledge of City and Departmental policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
- Ability to work independently without close supervision.
- Ability to supervise the work of others.
- Knowledge in the operation of a personal computer and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to meet scheduled deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to be work nonstandard hours, nights, holidays and weekends as needed.
- Possession of a high school diploma or GED.
- Possess a valid Alabama driver's license.
- Must meet City of Enterprise hiring standards which include drug and alcohol testing.
- Must be at least 16 years of age and adhere to the Alabama Child Labor Law.
- Ability to be First Aid/CPR and AED certified.
