Job description

Description:

Brentwood Country Club is seeking a Recreation Manager to lead the daily operations of the Recreation Department and deliver exceptional experiences for members. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, operational management, and team development skills, along with experience supervising staff, overseeing recreational programs, increasing member participation, and providing outstanding customer service in a private club environment. This individual will be organized, adaptable, and committed to supporting the club's mission while thriving in a fast-paced setting.


Due to the nature of this position, instruction/training hours will be limited.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of Recreation Department non-exempt employees.

Personnel Management:

  • Responsible for the recruitment strategies and ensuring all vacant positions are filled, and the selection of qualified candidates.
  • Creates employee schedules, approves vacation and sick time.
  • Review and approve employee timesheets and works with Human Resources regarding employee pay errors.
  • Trains new hires on department policies, procedures, tours them around employee areas and parking.
  • Issues supplies and equipment to employees.
  • Manages employee performance and works with Human Resources regarding performance, coaching, write-ups, performance improvement notices, and requests for terminations.
  • Be a visible presence in the department so you are accessible to the team.

  • Drive the creation and execution of all programming throughout the department including but not limited to the Wellness Program, Tennis, Pickleball, Swim, Fitness, Member Programs, and in particular Kids’ Programs, Summer Camps, and a Pool Program.
  • Deliver an exceptional experience through beginning, middle and end of all events as well as day to day interfacing with members.
  • Prepare BEO’s for all events.
  • Assist sports teams to facilitate practices, match dates, times, and attendance.
  • Planning as needed with vendors/contractors.
  • Provide feedback regularly to the Director of Recreation
  • Other duties within the Recreation Department as assigned by the Director

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and a history of experience with other software is preferred.
  • Must be available to occasionally work events outside of regular work schedule on some morning, night, and weekend shifts, and holidays.
  • Must be able to lead, inspire and direct a team.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers and be open to constructive feedback.
  • Must have the ability to de-escalate situations and find resolutions to any complaints as soon as possible.
  • Must be able to interact effectively with co-workers, children, and parents for the overall success of the department and the club.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
  • 2 years of management experience preferred in the same or similar industry.
  • Ability to obtain Servsafe certification within 15 days of employment.
  • Ability to become certified in First Aid, AED, CPR.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking
  • Occasionally bending, twisting, squatting, kneeling, and reaching above the shoulder
  • Some light lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling of objects
  • Exposure to sun and other outdoor elements
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times
