Practice Support, Records Assistant

Support Critical Records. Keep Practice Operations Moving.

At Ashurst Perkins Coie US LLP, our people are our greatest asset. We're looking for a highly-organized, collaborative, detail-oriented Practice Support, Records Assistant to join our Private Client Services team.

In this role, you will provide operational, administrative, records, and document management support for the practice group, with primary responsibility for the secure administration, organization, and integrity of confidential physical and electronic client materials. You will serve as a liaison among lawyers, paralegals, Legal Practice Assistants, Information Governance, and other firm departments to support accurate, timely handling of client records. You will also assist with lawyer and client transitions, document projects, and the development of consistent processes and procedures that strengthen efficiency, confidentiality, and service delivery.

What You'll Do

  • Administer and support the ongoing operation of the records, including auditing, maintaining accurate inventories, researching discrepancies, and resolving issues within records management.
  • Manage physical and electronic document activity, including tracking original documents, processing superseded records, maintaining file inventories, coordinating secure transfers, and ensuring appropriate tracking and chain of custody for sensitive or original materials.
  • Assist with coordination of attorney transitions, client transfers, document requests, and practice group administrative projects while serving as an operational liaison across attorneys, paralegals, Legal Practice Assistants, Information Governance, and other business professional teams as appropriate.

What You'll Bring

  • High school diploma or associate degree required; equivalent work experience in records management, Information Governance, or data management may also be considered.
  • Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality, along with experience coordinating complex projects or workflows involving multiple stakeholders and departments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience working in a law firm or other professional services environment.
  • Experience supporting records management, information governance, or document management processes.

The listed compensation range reflects the typical pay for this role, though it is rare for new hires to receive an offer at the top of the range. Seattle compensation range: $50,850 - $72,370 annually
