Reports to: VP, Global Digital Strategy

Company Summary: For more than 25 years, Secretly Distribution (SD) has been enabling independents to challenge the mainstream. SD is not only a full-service global physical and digital music distributor, but it also provides hands-on marketing, financial, and technological support to some of the most exciting record labels and artists across geographies and genres. By supporting businesses who are self-reliant by choice, not just necessity, SD champions the musicians and creative works that drive culture forward. We are headquartered in Bloomington, IN, with offices in Brooklyn, Chicago, London and Los Angeles and additional staff in Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam and beyond.

Position Summary:

The Data Insights Manager will play a key role in turning numbers into actionable narratives for our distributed partners and internal teams. Working closely with the wider SD Sales and Accounts Teams, this role will collect, interpret, and present data from a wide range of sources to guide release strategies, marketing campaigns, and long-term planning. The ideal candidate will combine technical data skills with an understanding of the broader music ecosystem, helping our partners make informed, impactful decisions, and serving as a public voice for SD’s data expertise at industry events. This is a collaborative position that works across departments, providing the insights needed to grow audiences and revenues in a fast-moving, ever-changing marketplace

Responsibilities:

  • Collect, clean, and analyze streaming, sales, and marketing performance data across DSPs, physical retail, and additional channels.
  • Create regular and ad-hoc reports to inform label partners, artists, and internal teams on key performance trends.
  • Build and maintain dashboards that visualize catalog and campaign performance in a clear, actionable format.
  • Support the SD Sales and Accounts Teams in identifying growth opportunities and strategic recommendations.
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally to measure campaign effectiveness.
  • Assist in forecasting revenue, projecting campaign impact, and modeling potential outcomes for releases.
  • Monitor new release performance and flag anomalies, trends, or emerging opportunities.
  • Maintain data integrity by ensuring consistent naming conventions and accurate metadata in reporting systems.
  • Research and implement best practices for data analysis in the music and entertainment sectors.

The Ideal Candidate Demonstrates:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in data analysis within the music, entertainment, or related digital media industry.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets; familiarity with SQL, Python, or BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, Power BI) is a plus.
  • Experience working with industry data sources such as Spotify for Artists, Apple Music for Artists, YouTube Analytics, Luminate, Chartmetric, etc.
  • Ability to distill complex data into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Comfort in a fast-paced, evolving environment with shifting priorities.
  • Strong communication skills—able to present findings clearly and confidently.
  • Comfort with public speaking and openness to representing SD externally on panels, at conferences, and in other industry forums
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to work closely across departments.
  • Passion for music and understanding of the independent music landscape.

SG Services, Inc. Benefits:

  • Paid holidays including end of the year closure
  • Paid Time Off policy, which includes a separate Sick Days bank
  • 401K with corporate matching
  • 12 weeks for parental leave after birth or adoption paid at 100% of salary
  • Commuter Benefit
  • Volunteer Hours Matching Policy
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Medical Health insurance covered at 100% for employee-only medical premiums
  • Dental & Vision insurance
