About the Role
FASTSIGNS Oakland is looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Sign Installer to deliver high-quality signage and graphics to clients across the Bay Area — from walls and windows to vehicles and construction zones. The ideal candidate is reliable, self-motivated, physically capable, and ready to grow. Prior sign or construction experience is a plus, but we're also open to motivated candidates with strong soft skills who want to learn the trade and become a trusted, recognizable face of our install team.
Core Responsibilities
  • Sign Installation: Install dimensional letters, vinyl graphics, ADA signage, standoff-mounted panels, window films, wall murals, and more on walls, ceilings, vehicles, glass, drywall, and concrete. Start with basic interior installs and grow into complex exterior projects as you gain experience.
  • Site Prep & Assessment: Review project packets, photos, or site visits to plan installs, confirm measurements, and ensure hardware and tools are ready.
  • Shop Prep: Prepare signs and materials before installs — inserting studs, disassembling standoffs, organizing hardware kits, and coordinating with QC.
  • Tools & Equipment: Safely operate hand tools, drills, levels, lifts, ladders, and measuring devices; help keep equipment in good working order.
  • Problem Solving: Adapt to field conditions and work with our senior installer to resolve uneven surfaces, mounting limitations, or obstructions safely.
  • Documentation & Communication: Complete install logs, take completion photos, note follow-up issues, and communicate job status and client feedback.
  • Safety: Follow safety protocols in the field, shop, and lifts; help keep work areas clean and organized.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
You don't need to check every box — we're interested in your potential and attitude.
  • Hands-on experience in signage, construction, or carpentry helpful but not required if you're reliable, a fast learner, and comfortable with tools.
  • Familiarity with sign types, mounting methods, and fasteners is a plus.
  • Comfort using ladders, lifts, drills, and hand tools (or willingness to learn).
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work at heights, and stay on your feet most of the day.
  • Clean driving record and valid driver's license.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills; comfortable solo or on a team.
  • Detail-oriented with pride in precise, clean execution and strong attendance.
  • 3M installation certification, or interest in earning it — we support training.
Bonus Points For
  • ADA Signage Experience: Experience installing ADA-compliant signage.
  • Installation Knowledge: Familiarity with standoffs, anchor types, and drywall/masonry installations.
  • Vinyl & Wrap Experience: Vinyl application or vehicle wrap experience.
  • Language Skills: Spanish-speaking or multilingual.
  • Industry Experience: Previous FASTSIGNS or sign industry experience.
