Job description

Real Estate Bookkeeper

At Experimental Holdings, a commercial real estate company and subsidiary of The Reading Group, we are looking for a highly skilled Real Estate Bookkeeper who is eager to contribute to a growing and dynamic organization. Reporting to the Controller, this role is responsible for executing the full accounting cycle for multiple properties while ensuring the accuracy across our growing organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the general ledger structure and multiple-entity accounting.
  • Perform full-cycle Accounts Payable.
  • Generate and monitor purchase orders.
  • Prepare journal entries, including recurring entries and allocations.
  • Prepare invoices, checks, account statements, financial reports, and general ledger extracts.
  • Monitor Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable to ensure timely processing and payment.
  • Communicate (both in verbal and written forms) professionally with tenants, vendors, and other contacts.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Business, or equivalent accounting experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience specifically involving general
  • Strong experience with:
    • Full-cycle bookkeeping
    • Accounts Payable
    • General ledger maintenance
    • Journal entries
    • Bank and account reconciliations
    • Financial reporting
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management.
  • Ability to manage confidential financial and tenant information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with a shared service team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with commercial real estate property accounting.
  • Experience using Rent Manager, QuickBooks, AvidXchange, or similar accounting/AP automation software.
