Job description

Turn Your Photography Skills Into a Stable, Year-Round Career
Carolina Cabin Rentals is hiring a full-time photographer to capture our growing portfolio of mountain cabins and vacation homes throughout Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Beech Mountain, Seven Devils, and the surrounding North Carolina High Country.
We provide the professional photography equipment, editing software, training, benefits, and either access to a company vehicle or reimbursement for approved work-related mileage.
This is a permanent, in-house position-not freelance or contract work. You'll be part of our marketing team and help create the images guests use when choosing where to stay.
Professional real estate photography experience is a plus, but it is not required. We are also interested in candidates with a strong eye, a promising portfolio, and the desire to develop a career in real estate, architectural, and hospitality photography.
Equipment Provided | Benefits | Company Vehicle or Mileage Reimbursement
What You'll Do
  • Photograph vacation rental interiors, exteriors, amenities, and mountain views
  • Showcase bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms, living spaces, decks, hot tubs, fire pits, and other important property features
  • Perform light staging, such as straightening rooms, arranging décor, and making basic lighting adjustments
  • Capture inviting, well-composed images that accurately represent each home
  • Edit photographs to maintain consistent standards for lighting, color, framing, and image quality
  • Organize and maintain digital photography files
  • Coordinate property access and photography schedules with our internal teams
  • Work with the marketing team to prioritize homes needing new or updated photography
  • Occasionally capture seasonal, lifestyle, detail, and other marketing images

What We're Looking For
  • A strong understanding of photography, composition, and lighting
  • A portfolio or collection of images demonstrating a good visual eye
  • Experience with photo-editing software or a willingness to learn
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain a consistent style
  • Good organization and time-management skills
  • The ability to work independently and enter private homes responsibly
  • Comfort traveling between properties throughout the workday
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • A willingness to learn and follow established photography standards

Experience with real estate, vacation rental, architectural, interior, or hospitality photography is preferred but not required. Drone photography and video experience are welcome but are not necessary.
Equipment and Travel
You do not need to own professional photography equipment to be considered. Carolina Cabin Rentals will provide the tools and resources needed for the position, including:
  • Professional cameras, lenses, lighting, and related equipment
  • Professional editing software and digital storage
  • Access to a company vehicle or reimbursement for approved work-related mileage
  • Training and additional equipment as the position develops

Compensation and Benefits
  • Starting salary of $45,000-$55,000, based on experience and portfolio
  • Performance reviews after 6 and 12 months
  • Opportunities for increased compensation and advancement
  • Medical insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Retirement plan with company 401(k) matching
  • Stable, year-round employment
  • Predictable scheduling
  • Flexibility to complete editing, planning, and coordination work remotely when appropriate
  • Professional development and training
  • Supportive, collaborative team environment

Who Should Apply?
This could be an excellent opportunity if you are:
  • An early- or mid-career photographer looking for stable, full-time employment
  • A real estate or architectural photographer ready to move away from inconsistent freelance work
  • A skilled general photographer interested in learning real estate and hospitality photography
  • A recent photography, visual communications, marketing, or media graduate with a strong portfolio
  • A creative professional who enjoys working independently and visiting different properties

Because this is an in-house position, it is not intended for someone seeking occasional freelance or contract assignments. Candidates must be comfortable traveling between properties throughout the North Carolina High Country during the workday.
How to Apply
Please send us:
  • A résumé or brief summary of your experience
  • A short introduction telling us about your interest in the position
  • A portfolio, website, Instagram account, Google Drive folder, or 10-15 sample photographs

Real estate, architectural, interior, and hospitality images are helpful, but we are happy to review other work that demonstrates your composition, lighting, editing skills, and attention to detail.
Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
Carolina Cabin Rentals is an equal-opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive workplace for all employees.
