Help shape the future of real estate investment and development
Western States Lodging & Management is seeking a Real Estate Analyst to join our team and play a key role in evaluating real estate investment and development opportunities. This is an excellent opportunity for an analytical, detail-oriented professional who enjoys turning financial and market data into meaningful insights that support strategic business decisions. You'll be an integral member of our real estate development team, partnering closely with acquisitions, finance, and development leaders on underwriting, financial modeling, market research, valuation, due diligence, and project feasibility. You'll help evaluate opportunities, assess investment risk, shape development strategies, and support projects from initial site evaluation through development and beyond.

    • The starting rate is based on experience and qualifications. This position participates in our compensation program, which provides opportunities for future pay growth based on performance and career development.

What You'll Do
  • Conduct detailed financial modeling and analysis, including income statement analysis, discounted cash flows (DCF), IRR, and ROI analyses for potential real estate investments, including acquisitions and ground-up development projects.
  • Perform market research and property valuations to assess opportunities for both existing properties and new development sites.
  • Assist in preparing investment packets, presentations, and reports related to real estate investments, development feasibility and project economics.
  • Support the due diligence processes, including reviewing financial statements, construction costs, market data, rental comparables, sales comparables, operational expense comparables and zoning requirements for ground-up development projects.
  • Monitor the ongoing performance of real estate investments and development progress, identifying risks or opportunities for optimization.
  • Collaborate with acquisitions and development teams on deal underwriting, site selection, and project feasibility studies.
  • Provide insights on industry trends, local market conditions, regulatory impacts, and construction timelines that affect real estate development transactions.

What Makes You Successful
  • Master's of Real Estate Development preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
  • 2-5 years of progressive experience in real estate development, financial analysis, accounting, or related roles preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Experience with reporting tools, business intelligence platforms, and database structures
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas and financial modeling
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present financial information to leadership
