Job Schedule: 9/80; Employees work 9 out of every 14 days - totaling 80 hours worked - and have every other Friday off  

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced attorney to join our legal team, specializing in real estate, construction and facilities support. This role will focus on providing legal support across all phases of real estate and facilities projects, including planning and design, construction, facilities management, utilities, and facilities equipment. The attorney will report to the Senior Director, Managing Counsel and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance, mitigate risks, and drive successful outcomes for the company's supply chain and real estate initiatives. 

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the legal framework for the company's real estate projects and initiatives. Essential Functions:

  • Provide practical and business-oriented legal advice and counseling on all aspects of real estate law, including land use, zoning, permitting, development and construction contracts, facilities management, utilities, and equipment procurement. 
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of real estate-related agreements, including purchase and sale agreements, leases, SNDAs, estoppels, easements, architectural design, construction contracts, and vendor agreements. 
  • Advise on legal issues related to the planning and design phases of real estate projects, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, and regulations. 
  • Support construction and development activities by addressing legal issues related to contractor relationships, project delays, change orders, and disputes. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams to address facilities management and utilities-related legal matters, including maintenance agreements, service contracts, and regulatory compliance. 
  • Monitor changes in real estate laws and regulations to ensure company policies and practices remain compliant. 
  • Manage and resolve pre-litigation disputes and claims related to real estate leases and projects, including construction defects, contract disputes, and property-related issues. 
  • When outside counsel is engaged, oversee and manage their work to align with the company's legal strategy and objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • JD from an accredited law school and a minimum of 7 years of legal experience, with a focus on real estate law. 
  • Member in good standing of a state bar. 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with Environmental Health and Safety matters a strong plus
  • Strong client-relations and interpersonal skills, as well as excellent judgment and superior written and oral communication and analytical skills. 
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively across multiple teams. 
  • Ability to juggle and prioritize multiple time-sensitive tasks effectively and independently. 
  • Experience with land use, zoning, permitting processes, economic incentives, synthetic leases, and solar power and power purchase agreements. 
  • Experience supporting real estate aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures. 
  • Top-tier law firm and/or in-house experience in a publicly traded company. 
  • Familiarity with utilities and facilities equipment-related legal issues is a plus. 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $127,500-$236,500. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, and Vermont is $110,500-$205,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
