Team Overview
The Aksia Real Assets team is a global, 16-member team charged with full management of Aksia's Real Assets investment business, encompassing Infrastructure, Real Estate, and Natural Resources. The team's responsibilities span investment sourcing and due diligence, client portfolio management, and industry research. The team currently advises on over $63 billion across a variety of client relationships, ranging from advisory mandates to SMAs.
Position Overview
Aksia is seeking an Associate to join Aksia's Real Assets Investment Research team. Our Real Assets Investment Research team is responsible for identifying potential institutional investment opportunities (commingled funds, SMAs, co-investments, etc.), performing due diligence, proposing recommendations for client investments, and monitoring client portfolio holdings. The primary focus of the role will be the global real estate sector, with the opportunity to support additional real assets strategies, including infrastructure and natural resources.
This position is intended be located out of Aksia's Chicago or New York offices and will include regular interaction with global colleagues and clients. Other locations may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Responsibilities:
  • Identifying and assessing institutional real assets investment opportunities
  • Providing thorough qualitative and quantitative research and financial analysis
  • Performing investment evaluation, due diligence, industry/company analysis and financial modelling
  • Monitoring market trends and closely tracking existing investments to support the investment / divestment decisions of clients
  • Supporting the preparation of internal reporting documentation
  • Meeting with prospective investment managers and industry participants
  • Establishing and cultivating relationships with real estate managers, placement agents, clients and other relevant industrial contacts
  • Assist in development of internal and external market research, white papers and presentations

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with strong academics in finance, economics, business or a related field
  • 3+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Passion for and understanding of the real assets investment universe
  • Strong analytical capabilities and financial modeling skills
  • Excellent qualitative assessment skills, with the ability to identify, synthesize, and communicate key investment merits and risks
  • Clear, concise, and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • High degree of initiative, intellectual curiosity, integrity, and commercial judgment Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented, global environment
