Job description

Medical Scribe

At Meridian Health Partners, we believe in elevating the role of the medical scribe. This is not a clock-in, clock-out job. Instead, you'll be paired directly with a single provider, working side-by-side in a learning-rich clinical environment. As a trusted member of the care team, you’ll gain firsthand experience in patient care delivery, medical documentation, and the inner workings of the healthcare system.

This role is ideal for pre-med, pre-PA, or pre-NP students seeking meaningful clinical experience before applying to professional school. Our former scribes have gone on to become physicians, nurse practitioners, PAs, and healthcare leaders. We have a need for multiple scribes in different areas across the DFW Metroplex.

Responsibilities:
  • Accompany Provider to transcribe a history and physical exam, and document accurately the physician’s encounter with the patient and others present in an electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Provide advanced support to providers, including but not limited to documenting patient history, diagnostic findings, lab and test results, diagnoses, and prescriptions.
  • List all proper diagnoses and symptoms as well as follow up instructions and prescriptions as dictated by the physician
  • Provide advanced support to providers including, but not limited to, documenting phone calls, and alerting the physician with labs/radiology reports are complete
  • Complies with facility and HIPAA policies, including those relating to confidentiality of patient information
Qualifications:
  • Ability to learn and appropriately apply basic medical terminologies and techniques taught and used on the job. Excellent organizational and verbal/written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to use discretion appropriately and maintain confidentiality
  • High levels of proficiency with MS Office applications, including, but not limited to, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Punctual, dependable, flexible, and detail oriented
  • Patient-centered orientation
  • Must have a passion for medicine and a desire to grow
  • Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently
