Lifeguard (Work Study or Student Assistant)
Position Summary
Under general supervision, ensures the safety of patrons of our aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintains consist surveillance of patrons in the facility
  • Acts immediately and appropriately as required until the arrival of emergency medical services
  • Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services
  • Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times and maintains a high standard of customer service.
  • Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.

Education, Certifications and/or Licenses
  • CPR Certified required
  • Current Certificate as a Lifeguard by the American Red Cross

Experience
  • Lifeguard

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures.
  • Ability to adhere to University & departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exits.
