Job description

Location : Mount Laurel, NJ Job Type: Part Time Job Number: 01334 Department: Humanities, Business, and Social Sciences Opening Date: 05/20/2026 Description This position teaches applied music lessons, specifically woodwinds, to students in RCBC's Music Department. The Applied Music: Percussion courses (2 credits) consist of fourteen (14) one-hour weekly private lessons/ instruction to align with 4-year institution requirements. Lessons are offered in person on RCBC's Mount Laurel Campus at a time mutually agreed upon by the student and instructor. Students registered for applied lessons are also expected to attend all performance class recitals, perform in one of the scheduled recitals, and perform a final juried exam during finals week. This position may also teach ensembles. Based on prior experience, credentials, availability, and interest, the opportunity to teach other music courses is possible. The compensation for applied music instruction is $450.00 per student for the semester. Adjunct faculty work under the direction of the Department Chair and administration of the Division of Humanities, Business, and Social Sciences to provide instruction, evaluate student performance, develop and manage syllabus and course materials, and comply with any Department, Division, or College requirements. RCBC is seeking a dedicated and experienced Applied Percussion Instructor to join our Music Department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both classical and contemporary styles and a passion for teaching students of diverse backgrounds and skill levels. Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide individual percussion instruction to students.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to each student's needs and goals.
  • Prepare students for performances, recitals, and examinations.
  • Collaborate with other faculty members to enhance the music curriculum and participate in departmental activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Attend end of semester juries for students assigned to the instructor.
  • Stay current with developments in percussion pedagogy and performance practices.
OVERALL PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY: The primary and most important overall responsibility of all employees is to provide service in a pleasant, helpful, and effective manner to our students and other members of the College community. Minimum Qualifications Education Required: Master's degree in Music Performance, Jazz Studies, Contemporary Commercial music, Music Education, or a related field with applied study in percussion instruments. Experience Required: Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in percussion instrument instruction. Skills/Abilities /Knowledge /Other Requirements:
